The notions of belonging, inclusion, authentic / whole self and psychological safety can sometimes mess with our sense of self. Especially when you layer on the ever evolving world of workplace culture plus remote v. hybrid v. on-site.
In this episode of We Are Enough Podcast we explore sense of self. We jump started our convo w/ this question:
How do you maintain a sense of identity and self-worth especially in spaces where you are underestimated, under valued or under represented?
Tune in here https://lnkd.in/g3JpfRFT
What do I do??
I revert back to those things, activities and people that help ground me. That might look like walks in nature, meditation, self encouragement, social activities like live music.
What are some ways you maintain your sense of self? Tell me more in the comments.

Now that Krakoa has fallen, what are the X-Men up to? I reviewed the first issue of the new Uncanny X-Men. Yes, I gush about this book having my dream team of X-Men. But this story could be stronger. Read more in my review for Women Write About Comics.
B3 FOCUS: In 2024 the B3 Festival, along with many others, has set its focus on Democracy. Our form of government with all its achievements is something that should not be taken for granted and must be protected at all cost.
In the digital age, moving images and social media are powerful tools that shape public opinion and drive democratic movements. They make complex social issues accessible, evoke empathy, and promote a diverse discourse—key to a vibrant democracy. However, they also pose challenges like misinformation and echo chambers that threaten democratic integrity.
We must use our creativity consciously to promote democratic values and ensure that digital spaces support a pluralistic and truthful dialogue. Let's discuss how we can achieve this together, fostering a society where every voice is heard and valued. Join us in shaping a democracy that not only survives but thrives in these times of change.

Image how would you feel if you work just as hard as your male colleagues, yet being paid less simply because of your gender, with a smaller pension awaiting you at retirement? For Australian women, this isn’t hypothetical—it’s reality.
Hi everyone, I'm Zoe and I'm currently doing Master of Commerce at UNSW, specialising in Marketing and Business Analytics.
Whilst studying COMM5501, I have been exploring key issues such as gender inequality in the workplace. My research has focussed on understanding the persistent gender pay gap in Australia, its causes and the solutions needed to close it. In my latest research, I found that the pay gap is not limited to wages, but also affects long-term wealth, with women retiring with 19% less superannuation than men. This systemic problem requires action from both government and business, including stronger pay equity laws, mandatory pay transparency, and flexible workplace policies that support work-life balance, all of which align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 5 - Gender Equality. It's not just about closing the numbers gap, it's about providing equal opportunities for women to lead, innovate and create a secure future.
One of the most important things I learnt during my ten-week COMM5501 studies was how to tell clear and impactful stories through data visualisation. This course has taught me that data is more than just a collection of numbers; it needs to be presented through appropriate visualisation methods in order to effectively communicate information and aid decision-making.
I would give myself an 8/10 for my learning experience and growth during this journey. While I am proud of my progress, it is clear to me that I still have a long way to go in terms of data depth and mastering more advanced data analysis skills, which is exactly what I will be doing in the following semesters. I would also like to thank the whole COMM5501 team and my peers for helping me throughout the semester and providing constant feedback so that I could better refine the whole storytelling project. 👏 😊
