Institutional change is taking a more “ direct” approach. The recent shake-ups at Disney and other big players prove that activist shareholders are a force to be reckoned with. It's all about recognizing where improvements are needed and working together, even if it gets a little heated. The success stories at GE and Procter & Gamble show that when management and activists team up, big changes can happen. It's like turning lemons into lemonade—leadership agility and teamwork make all the difference in turning challenges into growth opportunities. #Impact Part of what energises me in my work is partnering with companies that genuinely "walk the talk" in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). I’m inspired by organizations that don’t treat DEI as a “nice-to-have,” but instead integrate it as a core component of their business strategy, recognising the added profitability, resilience, and strength that an inclusive workplace brings. At Die RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, for example, DEI is one important element of their two-year international talent program. I recently had the opportunity to lead two interactive virtual sessions on Unconscious Bias for their talents. Unconscious bias is often misunderstood and, at times, unfairly criticised, despite scientific evidence showing it’s a natural and necessary part of our cognitive process - one we can recognise, manage, and actively reduce. Learning to do so is essential for fostering a more inclusive workplace, and each individual can contribute meaningfully by accepting and challenging their biases that work on assumptions. Being biased here, I believe that embedding DEI training, particularly around Unconscious Bias, into a talent program provides a strong foundation for psychological safety and empowers individuals and teams to grow and develop. I’m looking forward to hearing from the participants experiences following todays’ session. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with you, Katja Brögger. Kiran Mann wrote an interesting piece on being agile as a leader and these three points stood out to me: • Embrace change. Foster a mindset that sees change as an opportunity rather than a threat. • Stay informed. Stay abreast of industry trends, market shifts and emerging technologies. • Prioritize learning. Continuously seek opportunities to learn and grow, both personally and professionally. I especially like the third one. It’s so easy to be “too busy” to keep learning yet, for me, that’s the key to staying energized and moving forward.
