“Cindy Class is that rare confluence of contrasts that characterizes the best senior executives I have met in my 30 year career. She is a strategic thinker, with telescopic vision and an ability to predict and foretell trends that will surprise you. At the same time, she is a detail-oriented tactical executor with microscopic vision who gets things done right. She is a wonderfully facile connector with people who is warm, affectionate and caring in building relationships. At the same time, she finds a way to focus on the task at hand, and firmly guide people towards the desired destination. She is an articulate and fluent communicator who is never at a loss for words to influence and persuade varying constituencies. At the same time, she is a reflective and attentive listener who actively affirms and confirms what she is hearing, and draws people into conversations. She is a general athlete who can plug and play in multiple roles and environments, with broad, portable skill sets. At the same time, she can quickly and effortlessly become a subject matter expert in topics that need deeper familiarity. She is a driven and ambitious leader with high aspirations in terms of her professional trajectory and accomplishments. At the same time, she is a humble servant leader who can lead from the middle, and who doesn’t wear her rank on her sleeve. She is relentlessly focused on breakthrough outcomes, and holds herself personally accountable for delivering them. At the same time, she ensures that the process and mission are the right ones, and that all stakeholders are on board with the “why” and the “how” of what she is doing. In summary, my belief is that Cindy is an amazingly talented leader with many of the skills and qualities that I have seen in outstanding C-suite executives. ”

An executive seeks to foster inclusivity in leadership. How can you ensure diverse perspectives are valued?
As a leader, you set the temperature of your team culture: - Role model - make space for DEI in your agenda, set expectations for team inclusion, advocate to build it into your values it it's not already - Make it safe to talk about DEI, set rules of engagement for respectful and honest conversation emphasizing active listening -Engage in self reflection and self work - seek feedback, educate yourself, examine your biases, and build the habits for change - Prioritize team wellbeing and mental health regularly. Check in on your team to learn what support they may require. Doing so better equips you to support your team during the hard times. - Resist the urge to be right all the time, be curious and open to ideas different than your own.

You're dealing with an unmotivated and disengaged employee. How can you inspire them to excel?
- Provide safe ways to share feedback to understand what matters - Aalyze quantitative and qualitative data already available across channels (engagement, social, glassdoor) - Lead with insights, focus on drivers most correlated w engagement (this looks different per team, i.e. wellbeing, career, belonging) - Actually listen to feedback and data vs deflecting or defending - DO NOT ask for more honest feedback if you've neither resolved nor acted on prior feedback. Earn trust by delivering at least one high impact change. - Reflect on your own ways of leading - how might you be contributing to the issue? - Commit to your own personal action plan - what changes and habits will you commit to?
