Sherman Bausch asked me to help create Capption late last year. He believed a simple technology experience could shatter #accessibility barriers for museum visitors who face difficulty engaging traditional exhibits. We succeeded! Capption delivers exhibit content to #lowvision, #aging, and #nonnativespeaking visitors in their preferred language and format. We tailored Capption for rapid usability in the action of a real-world visit. You can help by: 1. Following Capption. Your followership amplifies the reach of our announcements about participating institutions, disability support, and events. 2. Visit the American Swedish Institute in Minnesota or History Center Lake Forest Lake Bluff in Illinois to experience Capption firsthand (more locations coming soon). 3. Connect me with people you know at institutions who can benefit from Capption. One visitor recently summarized Capption best: “I knew I was reading what everyone else was reading without having to be different or do different things.” Join us to make art, science, and nature accessible to millions more. https://lnkd.in/gG_YT34x

Our brains can be taxed. Keep in mind that what we take in, even when consuming media, traditional and social, can impact our emotion and drain our energy reserves. Black women are impacted more than any other group when the news is bad, according to research from Horowitz Research thanks to Adriana Waterston. We have to go the extra mile to protect our peace. This snippet is from a conversation I had with actress, U4IA Founder, Run’s House and Growing Up Hip Hop star Vanessa J. Simmons that will post soon on u4rianow.com. #yespleasebook📗 #u4ianow

Among the many things we learn in Positive Intelligence is the simple lesson in the popular video "It's Not About the Nail." Men are known for being problem-solvers when women come to them with a problem but are only looking for support and understanding. Women can be guilty of this too. When someone comes to you with a problem, be a coach, not a consultant. Listen first, and then ask questions to show support and allow the other person to find the answers. If they want your solution, they will ask you for it by saying, "What do you think I should do?" https://lnkd.in/gU6yntED

Art has the facility and power to present and help deconstruct realities that are increasingly common but still unknown to many people. This series presents different perspectives on autism (and other A's words) and the challenges faced by the different parties, which change over time. It is very important that we are increasingly aware of the diversity of realities that exist, so that we can better understand them and promote true inclusion for all.

Ladies in Arms: #Women, #Guns, and #Feminisms in Contemporary #PopularCulture (#GenderStudies) - OA PDF: https://lnkd.in/gbYqnP_y In contemporary popular culture, armed women take center stage - but how can they be read from a feminist perspective? How do films, comics, and TV series depict the newly fashionable gunwomen between objectification and feminist empowerment? The contributions to this volume ask this question from different vantage points in cultural and literary studies, film and visual culture studies, history, and art history. They examine military and civic gun cultures, the rediscovery of historical armed women and revolutionaries, cultural phenomena such as gangsta rap, narcocultura and US politics, Bollywood and French cinema, and distinct genres such as the graphic novel, the romance novel, or the German police procedural Tatort.
