Your content strategy needs a makeover. How will you pivot for success?
I would definitely recommend a content audit. But when we do discovery work for this type of engagement, we also include the following: an audit of the operations, and how content is created, acquired, managed, and published (and then monitored and/or eventually archived). We also look at the audiences and any customer experience levers where content plays a role. If the objectives for the content are not clear (noting that different content types have different objectives), we identify what the obvious objectives, and we audit metrics against those. We identify redundant, outdated and trivia content to sunset. Ideally, we perform a competitive audit of the content as well. All this helps frame where the strategy should and needs to go.

You're managing SEO tasks amid a flurry of algorithm updates. How do you decide where to focus your efforts?
Great content is key. And ensure that it conform to the customer need, that it sites authoritative sources when necessary, and create content on a regular basis. Rich customer content experiences, that are organized, well-written, accessible, and relevant… and of course use well written HTML Title tags, meta description, H1, H2, links, alt text, etc.

Here's how you can negotiate for higher pay rates in temporary digital strategy positions.
Part of knowing your value is understanding the cost of the actual work— understanding the scope enough that you can create an accurate estimate for the outcomes and the tasks necessary to achieve that outcome… Look at the tasks and the level of effort it takes to achieve each one (in hours)… use a billable hourly rate that is competitive, and finalize your cost for the project around that analysis. When specific questions arise about the cost or rate, you can tie it back to the actual work and the specific tasks that you will be achieving. You don’t have to share the details of the analysis with the client, but you can let them know that you’ve done your homework there and you can break the high-level outcomes into specific costs.
