Sometimes you have to do it yourself.
At AvenueCX, we needed imagery for our website and marketing collateral that we felt would speak to the impact of content throughout the past hundred years or so. We did not want to just rely on stock photography. We wanted something unique and authentic. Our hope was to come up with a set of images that celebrate the role of content and communication throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. In order to do so, we only sparingly leveraged public domain images. We realized quickly that if we wanted this identity we would have to do it ourselves. So we set out to find and procure various vintage devices, such as a 1930s radio and World War II era Japanese telephone. We then photographed these in black and white, and created images for our various marketing channels. In the future we will launch an Instagram experience to tell this story and present more images. For now, we have begun a library on our site to catalog our imagery. As we have many other devices to showcase—a Cyrillic typewriter, vintage film projector, etc.—we will be updating this section frequently.
