HARD LANDING DEFINITION

REF. FIG. 055110-DVI-00130

A HARD LANDING IS A VERTICAL ACCELERATION

INCREMENT AT THE AIRCRAFT CENTER OF GRAVITY.
THIS ANOMALY MAY BE REPORTED BY THE FLIGHT CREW
AND CONFIRMED BY THE FLIGHT DATA RECORDER. THE
GRAPH GIVES THE VALUES, IN FUNCTION OF AIRCRAFT
WEIGHT AT TOUCH DOWN, ABOVE WHICH A LANDING IS
CONSIDERED AS HARD.

002 ____________________________________
CAUTION - LANDING GEAR SPECIFICITIES

NOTE: THE LOADS EXPERIENCED BY THE LANDING GEAR

AFTER HARD LANDING OR BOUNCED LANDING
DEPEND ON SEREVAL VARIABLE FACTORS WHICH
ARE:
-A/C SPEED
-A/C WEIGHT
-A/C POSITION (YAW, PITCH, ROLL,
ANGLES)

THOSE VARIABLE FACTORS ARE REQUIRED TO BE

ANALYSED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE LOADS
EXPERIENCED BY THE LANDING GEARS AND THE
SERVICEABILITY OF THE INVOLED LANDING
GEARS.

IN ALL CASES, THE OPERATORS SHOULD NOTIFY

ATR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. INCLUDE FULL
DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT AND RESULTS OF
MAINTENANCE ACTIONS PERFORMED USING
THIS JIC SO THAT ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE
MAY BE GIVEN TO ENABLE PROMPT AND SAFE
RETURN TO SERVICE OF THE AIRCRAFT.

003 DEFINITION OF RESTRICTED AND EXTENDED

THE AIRCRAFT MUST BE SUBJECTED TO A RESTRICTED

VISUAL INSPECTION IN ORDER TO DETECT ANY
RESULTING DEFORMATION OR DAMAGE.

TWO CASES MAY OCCUR :

1. IF THE VISUAL RESTRICTED INSPECTION REVEALS

NO ANOMALIES, THE AIRCRAFT CAN BE RETURNED
TO SERVICE WITHOUT FURTHER ACTION.

2. IF ANOMALIES ARE DETECTED DURING THE VISUAL

RESTRICTED INSPECTION, THE AIRCRAFT
MUST BE SUBJECTED TO A VISUAL EXTENDED
INSPECTION.

NOTE : THIS CARD CALLS UP A CERTAIN NUMBER

OF INSPECTION CARDS.
ONLY CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THESE CARDS
ARE APPLICABLE.

004 ___________
PREPARATION

1. POSITION ACCESS PLATFORMS AS NECESSARY FOR

THE INSPECTION.

2. DISPLAY WARNING NOTICE IN FLIGHT COMPARTMENT

PROHIBITING OPERATION OF CONTROLS AND
HYDRAULIC, ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS.
