FROM FATHER RICH
In a certain parish, the local bishop came to Confirm the candidates. They were all gathered in the center
nave and with trepidation waited for the bishop to confirm them. The bishop approached one girl and asked
her name. It was Mary. The bishop then said, “Dear Mary, can you please tell me what we say when we make
the sign of the cross?” Caught by surprised, she stood in place rather than replying. The bishop helped her
by starting “in the name of the Father, and of the Son and …” Finally, Mary responded “and of the
Mother” . The bishop then told her: “this is a beautiful name for the Holy Spirit, who is truly like a
mother. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, which means we receive support and protection from Him. The
Holy Spirit also remembers our needs, heals us, and strengthens us.”
Today our church becomes like the meeting place of the Apostles, in which, along with Mary, we await the
outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We thank God the Father and His Son for the gift of the Holy Spirit and we
open our hearts to his actions.
Next week we will mark the day of national remembrance of our beloved deceased. On Memorial Day
there will be special Masses held at a number of cemeteries, for the intercession of all deceased and espe-
cially those who gave their lives for freedom and independence and whose graves go unattended or whose
final resting place is unknown.
Last Monday at St. Constance Parish we celebrated a farewell Mass for Bishop Thomas
Paprocki, who was an auxiliary Bishop in Chicago for seven years. Bishop Paprocki was a vicar
for Vicariate IV and at the same time he was Cardinal’s delegate for Polonia in Chicago. Bishop
Paprocki was nominated as the Ordinary Bishop of the Springfield Diocese. Please pray for
Bishop Tom and for a new Bishop who will replace him.
I want to thank those who took care of our “Grotto” with St. Albert the Great statue by the
State Road, which was dedicated in memory of Rev. Joseph Lynch. The statue and the grotto
were cleaned and the flowers that First Communion children brought were planted. It is a very
nice spot for little prayer or meditation. We invite and encourage you to visit Rev. Joseph Lynch Memorial
Grotto.
In two weeks, on Sunday, June 6th we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of
Christ. When I came to the United States twenty years ago, I participated in the beautiful 40 hours devotions
as a sign of our believe in true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Unfortunately, those beautiful devotions
are gone. Some of our parishioners asked me if we can do something special to emphasize the importance of
that Feast. We will have an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, indoor procession
with the Blessed Sacrament and the Benediction. We invite all who want to be part of this Eucharistic
Celebration to join us.
God Bless! Fr. Rich

SCHOOL NEWS
DID YOU KNOW?
Students in Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago achieve higher than average scores on standard-
ized tests like the Terra Nova or ACT. Daily attendance rates are higher than other schools in the same
neighborhoods. Seniors in Catholic high schools graduate at a rate of 98% and of those who graduate, 95%
go on to college. It’s no wonder the Archdiocese of Chicago has more U.S. Department of Education Blue
Ribbon Award than any other school system in the nation. (2010 Archdiocese of Chicago)
OPEN HOUSE/NEW FAMILY REGISTRATION

time. Please tell all of your relatives, friends and neighbors about this opportunity to become part of our
St. Albert the Great School family. If your relatives, friends and neighbors are not able to attend this Open
House they are invited to contact the school office at 708 424-7757 to get registration information or arrange
for a time to come in and tour the school.

OD KS. RYSZARDA

W pewnej parafii odbywało się bierzmowanie. Kandydaci oczekiwali w głównej nawie

kościoła na podejście biskupa i udzielenie im sakramentu bierzmowania. Biskup podszedł do
jednej dziewczynki i zapytał: „Jak masz na imię.” „Maria” odpowiedziała bardzo zdenerwowana
dziewczyna. On odpowiedział „Powiedz mi Marysiu, co mówimy, kiedy wykonujemy znak
Krzyża Świętego?” Biskup zaczął podpowiadać dziewczynce „W Imię Ojca, i Syna, i ...” „Mamy”
Duch Święty to ten, leczy i umacnia.”
W poniedziałek, 31-go maja przeżywać będziemy dzień pamięci o zmarłych, który
odprawi Ks. Biskup Paprocki, który w czerwcu odchodzi do Diecezji
Springfield.
Polonijnego. W ubiegły poniedziałek około 50 Polskich Księży i wielu
Alberta przy ulicy State.
Dziękujemy za wyczyszczenie figury, groty i zasadzenie kwiatów. Zachęcamy was do modlitwy
i medytacji przy Grocie Św. Alberta.
uczęszczających do szkół publicznych. Przypominamy o Święcie Bożego Ciała i zachęcamy do
udziału w procesji w niedzielę, 6-go czerwca o godzinie 1:30 p.m.
