MASS INTENTIONS GIVEN MUCH
SUNDAY, AUGUST 8, 2010 “Much will be required of the person entrusted
7:30-For the Parishioners with much” (Luke 12:48). Whew! At least the
-Arthur Cox, Joseph Heldak Lord hasn’t entrusted me with much! Thank
-Wedding Anniversary: goodness that the work of the reign of God on
Martin & Mary Lally earth has been entrusted to somebody else. This
9:00-Lillian Pawlikowski, Potoczak Family
must be the “good news” of today’s Gospel, right?
10:30-Joseph Gal, Floyd Peterson
12:00PM-Wedding Anniversary: Wrong!
Michael & Carol Jones In the mentality that has come to be known as
1:30PM-POLISH MASS “keeping up with the Joneses” we can gear our-
-Helena Cyrwus, Wladyslaw & Diane Skupien selves toward a comparison with those who have
5:00PM-POLISH MASS more or who have been given more, even by God.
-Edward Berdowski Unfortunately, nowhere does Jesus say: “Not
MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2010 much will be expected of those who have been
6:30-Frances Tomaszkiewicz
8:30-Virginia Slavik, John Valek
given only a little bit.” Each of us, in our own way,
TUESDAY, AUGUST10, 2010 has been given something, some gift or treasure
6:30-For the Parishioners that we can put toward the work of the reign of
8:30-Theresa Botta, Umberto Botta - Blessing God. This is the vocation of Christian discipleship.
-Phyllis Crowe Perhaps others seem to have been given more;
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2010 evaluating this is not the disciple’s concern. The
6:30-Frances Tomaszkiewicz concern of each of us in the vocation for which
8:10-MORNING PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
8:30-Majorie Donovan
we have been chosen is to take what we have
-Gladys & Tom Kenny been given, and consecrate it for the continued
THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010 in-breaking of God’s kingdom of justice, joy,
6:30-John Valek peace, and beauty. Then will we come to realize
8:30-Phyllis Izzadorski that we have indeed been given much.

FROM FATHER RICH
At the end of school what do you want to do? What will you do after getting married?
- I want to do my Senior Certificate. - I will have a family.
After your Senior Certificate what do you want to do? What will you do after having a family?
- I want to go to college. - I will retire.
After college what do you want to do? What do you want to do after you retire?
- I want to get a job. - I want to take a rest.
Then what do you want to do? What will you do after taking a rest?
- I want to make big money. - I don’t know.
What do you want to do after making money? Will you die?
- I want to build a big house. - Oh yes, I will die too.
After that what do you intend to do?
- I want to get married.

In that conversation the student answering those questions had to be reminded that he would die.
We could say he was living for the present, with no thought about the present life disappearing. Many
people would admit that they were so busy in the early part of their lives that they had not much time
for God. But as time went by they began to realize more and more that life here is passing, that we are
only passing through, and that the purpose of life is, as we learned in school, to know, love and serve
God. That is why many people become more prayerful and spiritual as they grow older. They can see
that life is short and goes by very quickly. One person said to me that when he passed the age of fifty
he felt life was going by so quickly that there were two Christmases every year! We are familiar with
the saying, “Life begins at forty.” Our spiritual life does not begin at forty since we were baptized as
infants and we are sons and daughters of God since baptism. Let us not waste our lives by losing out
on the most important of all, friendship with God. Let us not take half a lifetime to get dressed for
action with our lamps lit.
Radio stations are broadcasting but we must tune in our radio to pick up the signal. God communi-
cates with us every day if we have the ears to hear. Sometimes God communicates with us in unex-
pected ways. Are you open to God speaking to you? Jesus said in the Gospel, “You too must stand
ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Recently many parishioners asked about Fr. Stepek’s status at St. Albert the Great Parish. I talked
to Fr. Bob last week and he told me that he received a letter from the Archdiocese stating that his term
of office as a pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish in Burbank, Illinois has ended. I got a copy of the
letter and asked the Archdiocese for the statement for our parishioners. This is the statement I received
as an announcement for St. Albert the Great Bulletin August 7-8, 2010.

ST. ALBERT THE GREAT PARISH BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENT RELEASED AUGUST 2, 2010.
On June 15, 2010, Fr. Stepek’s second six-year term as pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish concluded.
Fr. Richard Milek will continue to serve as the Administrator of St. Albert the Great until a new pastor is named.

Let’s keep Fr. Stepek, his parents and his family in our prayers.
God Bless! Fr. Rich

OD KS. RYSZARDA

Dzisiejsze czytania mszalne ukazują nam ludzi, żyjących swą

wiarą: Abraham wierząc Bogu zostawia swój kraj i idzie w
nieznane; dzięki swej wierze Sara staje się matką nowego narodu;
Ewangelia przypomni, że człowiek wiary powinien mieć pewien
dystans do rzeczywistości w której żyje, i winien nieustannie
do czuwania na swoje przyjście: „Niech będą przepasane biodra wasze i zapalone pochodnie. A wy
podobni do ludzi, oczekujących swego pana, kiedy z uczty weselnej powróci; aby mu zaraz otworzyć,
gdy nadejdzie i zakołacze”.
Dzisiejszy fragment Ewangelii przypomina nam zarazem prawdę, że każde czuwanie jest
przechodnie – znajduje swój kres. Ta chwila ostatecznej próby, to zamknięcie księgi doczesnego
życia, zadecyduje o losach naszej wieczności: „Szczęśliwi owi słudzy - mówi Chrystus w Ewangelii -
których pan zastanie czuwających, gdy nadejdzie. Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Przepasze się i każe im
zasiąść do stołu, a obchodząc będzie im usługiwał”. Trzeba nam tak żyć, jakby każda chwila
decydowała o wieczności. Nie chodzi tu oczywiście o przeżywanie strachu,
wynikającego z nieoczekiwanego nadejścia Pana, bo to zakładałoby przeżywanie bojaźni, wynikającej

Roberta Stepka i zamieszczamy ją w dzisiejszym biuletynie.

Oświadczenie Archidiecezji Chicago:

W dniu 15-go czerwca, 2010 druga sześcioletnia kadencja Księdza Roberta Stepka jako
proboszcza Parafii Św. Alberta dobiegła końca. Ksiądz Ryszard Miłek pozostaje
Administratorem parafii aż do momentu ogłoszenia nowego proboszcza.
