Describing your agency to others... I'm onboarding some folks to help drive more leads to our Barrel Holdings agencies. I'm sharing no-fluff language on what each agency does. It's basically "we do X for Y" format, but the X and Y can be as specific or generic as needed. Only rule is to keep it as brief as possible. Here's a sampling, where the Y (who we serve) is a bit more generic: Barrel builds & optimizes Shopify e-commerce websites for consumer brands. BX Studio helps businesses launch and optimize marketing websites on Webflow. Vaulted Oak provides website support, maintenance, & optimization services to businesses on Shopify or WordPress. Bolster delivers branding, graphic design, and Framer websites to startups and B2B businesses. I'll also share variations that get more specific on what we do, who we serve, and our value prop. For example: - Barrel helps CPG food & beverage brands leverage their Shopify website to drive sales across online and offline channels. - Bolster delivers high quality brand design to startups in under 6 weeks. Most brands don’t send enough emails… We’ve worked with brands sending 2-3 emails a day. A vast majority of brands can send 5-7 emails a week and see very little if any negative impacts. Not sending this much? Test it… Start sending more and monitor these metrics: * Open Rates * Unsubscribe Rates * Spam Rates * Revenue / Email Sent * Total Revenue 9/10 you will see almost no negative impact to any of these metrics and total growth from retention will typically skyrocket. Plain text emails are what UGC ads were 1 year ago. They regularly outperform branded emails. Except unlike UGCs, you can curate plain text emails in a way that is consistent with your brand image and voice.

Brilliantly put—leads as a trailing indicator is such an overlooked truth in B2B marketing. Focusing solely on leads without understanding the broader ecosystem of touchpoints is like celebrating a flower without acknowledging the soil, water, and sunlight that made it grow. Shifting the mindset to value leading indicators like brand visibility, trust-building interactions, and non-commercial engagement is the real key to sustainable demand generation. Everyone likes the idea of "multi-channel marketing." Meaning you have a presence on LinkedIn, Google search, Google Ads, YouTube, Meta... Rarely do I see companies that actually crush it across all of these channels, and instead do a mediocre job across all of them because they think that is a better strategy. A better approach is to make one channel work for you at a time before investing in others.

If I could teach any brands or creators to improve at one thing, it would be testing & iterating on different content formats. Uncle Charlie Marketing Co.'s recent content with Element Indoor Golf is a great example... Step 1: Test multiple repeatable content formats Step 2: Analyze performance to decide which formats to continue with Step 3: Iterate on winning formats and focus on improving hooks, editing, and view duration This week alone, we've identified at least two content series we'll be continuing with and that we can improve upon. It sounds simple, but most creators and brands stop after Step 1 and never analyze or iterate on what works. Repeatable content formats win on social. Stop guessing so much. 📖 Build in public: This is one type of ad that’s working for us right now. Thought I’d share it to my Linkedin feed. We test a ton of different formats for our market. Our ideal prospects have seen every agency pitch in the book. And I get it: I’m the biggest skeptic out here when I see ads. So I throw out the book, ditch the fancy edits, and write my own. Mission: shoot simple ads I’d respond to. Original takes. No hype. Break the 4th. Real tone. Healthy dose of sarcasm. It’s working right now for markets that are “offer & mechanism fatigued”. Every line and sentiment taken from actual sales conversation transcripts. The stuff you won’t find in everyone else’s ads that all took the same course from that same guru. My playbook: spend (a lot of) time coming up with ads I’d actually respond to - and have some fun while doing it.

Here’s an email flow that almost everyone is using incorrectly: A reminder for any brand owner who needs to hear this... Your post-purchase flow is NOT for selling more products. It’s for: 1. Elevating the customer experience to make first-timers become repeat purchasers. 2. Tackling buyers’ remorse - Keep them excited while their order arrives 3. Lowering the chance of returns 4. And lastly, if appropriate: upsell & cross-sell Selling more products isn’t the goal of this flow. It’s merely a great added bonus – on top of everything else.
