What do you do if virtual collaboration is hindering your database engineering efforts?
Be careful on which problems you're solving here. This will help you better position your approach as the ideas shared are all good...for the right problem. 1. Are you dealing with a technology challenge? People may be wanting to collaborate, but don't have access or IT or Security issue. 2. Are you dealing with a training issue? Not everyone may use #collaborationtools daily. A "quick start guide" and a web meeting to explain HOW to use the tool (and why!) can help your team jump in. 3. Is it a style issue? Don't limit communications to a single tool. Have meetings live, then send recaps via emails with links to collaboration space. Have multiple options for teams to connect and communicate. Be clear on what before how!

You’re in a time crunch. How can you prioritize tasks effectively?
You also want to think about who is waiting on you? Who needs you to finish something before they can move on? Then ask what is the MVP they need - the minimum viable product. You don't want to over-engineering things, but simply move them forward enough for feedback AND deliver some value. Nothing is valued while it's still on your desk and you're "working" on it. Look at your backlog and ask "What would deliver the most value to the most people" and then what is the least amount of work you can do to deliver that value? Not cutting corners, but moving things along!

Feedback Is A Gift! Accepting And Utilizing Feedback
BA Times
Whether it is about your work product, your ability to conduct a meeting or the way you look? Can you remember the last time you said “thank you” to feedback? Whether the feedback feels positive or negative, be thankful that a stakeholder took the time to give you feedback. While business analysts and project managers are often facilitators, helping others achieve their goals, we work with people who often have “day jobs.” They are having to help our current project or change initiative in addition to doing their regular work. They took the time to read what you had created and gave you feedback. That is a gift!

Innovation remains hard to define and even harder to measure, but businesses are finding that in order to succeed in today’s economy, a shift in focus, a change in the approach to business strategy with a new mindset is now required. As a change agent, consultants remain challenged in how they can enable organizations to not only realize the needed changes, but to also act upon and try different approaches. These facilitators must utilize levers of innovation that can spur people into motion. Many reactive levers, especially in heavily regulated industries such as with financial organizations, present themselves only in retrospect as companies analyze the changes made in response to external pressures. However, if one can identify and utilize proactive levers, ones that change not just the business processes but begin to shift the entire culture, longer lasting and positive organizational changes can and will emerge that propels the business to continued success.
