Ever look for strategies to deal with specific challenging situations with your kid? For example: Your kid refuses to brush his teeth- what to do? Your kid thinks socks are an optional accessory- what to do? Your kid will only eat neon-yellow foods- what to do? A parenting book, a parenting coach, or even a friend might give you a technique that encourages your child to comply in these situations, such as distraction, repetition, a bribe, consequences, etc. Strategies can be helpful- to a point. And when you get to that point, there's nowhere to go from there. It's like tightening the knobs on a leaky faucet. It might stop the water from dripping, but it doesn't fix the underlying plumbing issues that caused the dripping to begin with. Your kid might comply at the moment (brush his teeth, wear socks, or agree to eat a banana or other colors of the rainbow), but without addressing the underlying reason for their behavior, the challenges will likely resurface in other forms. This is why Power Parenting is not (just) about strategies. It’s about principles. Parenting principles remain consistent over time and across different situations. They make up the whole plumbing system – not the faucet, or the knob – but the entire web of pipes that keeps the water flowing. And that’s what makes empowered parents: parents who know what is needed, every time, even when life throws lots of lemons. When you strengthen the system, you spot all the underlying issues, and you prevent new ones from coming up. The parenting principles you learn in Power Parenting are clinically proven to be effective for all children – and are especially impactful for sensitive children. It’s the blueprint for raising your sensitive kid with the skills they need to thrive in life. Once you take this course, realistically, you won’t need anything else. It will strengthen and support the entire pipeline of your parenting. If you have an intense, sensitive child, and are looking for strategies, systems, and stoppers to help with difficult behaviors, I encourage you to give this course a try. Learn more and sign up for our Power Parenting course: https://lnkd.in/dFX4H58C Starting this Thursday, May 30th!! Outspoken and confident children are sometimes unfairly labeled as "bad kids" simply because they challenge authority or express themselves assertively. In our attempt to mold them into what we perceive as "good children," we inadvertently suppress their natural inclination to speak their minds and assert their independence. Instead of stifling their confidence and independence, we should embrace and nurture these qualities. Rather than viewing assertiveness as a negative trait, we should teach our children how to communicate effectively and respectfully. Encouraging open dialogue and fostering a sense of autonomy can empower children to develop healthy self-esteem and assertiveness. As parents, it's essential to strike a balance between setting boundaries and allowing room for self-expression. We can achieve this by practicing active listening, validating their feelings, and providing constructive guidance. By cultivating a supportive and nurturing environment, we can empower our children to thrive and become confident individuals who are capable of standing up for themselves while respecting others. Ultimately, the key to right parenting lies in understanding and embracing the uniqueness of each child. By refraining from labeling and instead focusing on fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance, and empowerment, we can create a nurturing environment where all children can flourish and reach their full potential.

The results are in, which leaves me with a bit of a dilemma.🤔 For the past few weeks, I have been actively working on which direction to take my business, and during the process, I have been wondering... How many people are just curious about childhood OCD? Versus how many are affected by it. So, I decided to put it to the test by conducting a poll both here and on Instagram, and the results have proved quite interesting. Based on the findings, it would appear, at first glance, that more people are intrigued by OCD as opposed to being affected by it. But all might not be as it seems. Because, firstly, only a small fraction of my connections and readers voted in my poll. And secondly, as parents of children with OCD opt to keep it private, many of them may have refrained from voting. The poll also proved helpful in helping validate the need for other products that I have been contemplating creating, too. Namely, resources to help schools support children with OCD. Because, one of my Instagram followers commented that she bought my Parenting OCD in Teens and Tweens handbook not to help her children as I had initially thought... But to help 2 of her pupils in school. Here is what she commented: "I'm a well-being coach in a primary school. Your information has been invaluable in supporting two pupils. 💛" If you are struggling to support a child with OCD at home or school, further details of my Parenting OCD handbook and Mind Monsters books can be found in the features section of my bio. #ocdawareness #ocdrecovery #ocdtreatment #parentingstruggles #schoolcounselor

🤔When you notice an oncoming situation where your child may potentially feel sad - have you ever thought, "What would happen if my child became sad?" instead of intervening? In her article, Inherent Resilience, PCI Certified Parent Coach® Maria Sanders explores how as adults, "we always try to insert ourselves. We always try to fix the problem, find a solution, or what some people call “lawnmower parenting”, where we try to smooth the surface so our kids don’t fail." This is a disservice to our children as we aren't allowing for them to discover their inherent resilience. Wondering what to do instead? 🔗Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gBtFvwMm #theparentcoachinginstitute #parentcoaching #parentcoaches #familysupport #parentsupport #parentingjourney #parentingsupport #inherentresilience #parentconfidence #goodintentions #takingapause #selfreflection #becomingtheobserver #childdevelopment
