Involving Everyone: A Strategic Approach to Change Stress Management Since waking up paralysed in 2014 I have achieved a great deal, broken records pioneered sports and adventure for disabled people and advocated for a positive change when it comes to inclusion. But, the point is I have not done any of it alone. I have surrounded myself with the right people at the right time. In the dynamic world of business, this is even more important. creating the right culture and involving every team member in the change process isn't just beneficial—it's essential. When everyone from the ground up feels included in the transformation, it enhances buy-in, reduces resistance, and fosters a cooperative environment. Here’s how we can ensure that everyone is part of our journey through change: 1️⃣ Transparent Communication: Keep all lines of communication open. Share the 'what', 'why', and 'how' of changes clearly and consistently across all levels of the organisation. 2️⃣ Participative Decision-Making: Encourage employees to share their ideas and feedback. Involving team members in decision-making processes can lead to innovative solutions and greater acceptance of new initiatives. 3️⃣ Role Clarity: Ensure that each team member understands their role in the change process. Clear responsibilities and expectations can prevent confusion and align efforts. 4️⃣ Recognition and Encouragement: Acknowledge the contributions of all employees throughout the change process. Celebrating milestones and recognising individual efforts can boost morale and motivation. 5️⃣ Training and Support: Provide training and resources to help employees adapt to change. What are your thoughts on conferences? I am off to the CIPD festival of work today. Some of the sessions I’m excited to attend are: 📣How internal comms can support corporate values ❌Thriving through transformation, it’s time to stop talking about change management 📕From theory to action and AI playbook for L&D strategies 💪🏿Fearless Leadership: Fostering an honest and open culture, and creative courage in the modern workplace The part I woke up feeling a little less excited about this morning is the networking. It’s how we grow (along with word of mouth and referrals from our lovely existing clients) but let’s be honest, it’s not many people’s favourite thing to do! It's the first day (of a packed!) #UHR24 and it was great to listen in to Louise Edwards-Holland and Charlotte Axon this morning. The session was called: "Predicting, Responding and Adapting to Change - A New Approach For Team HR." In the presentation we wanted to candidly and openly shared the impact and learning from a joint project between Tailored Thinking and Nottingham Trent University to positively and proactively infuse change and transformation amongst their HR team. I'm super proud of the impact of this collaborative work and the lasting impact it has had, particularly when it comes to meaning and purpose. As Louise describes it: "And actually what's now happening is people are free thinking they're not just doing the same old same old in the same old way, but they are the questioning the why, and they're doing something with that why... they're pushing it forwards whether it's through job crafting or whether it's through the agile process improvement" And when it comes to finding you "why" I love Louise's challenge to think about our future selves and ask ourselves "what would our future selves have wanted us to be doing?" 🚀It's an action packed conference (as ever) and would implore anyone who has a pass to make the time to attend the sessions. 🚀 #Conference #Networking #Learning #WorkWithUHR #HRinHE #ProfessionalDevelopment
