It's game-changing that they can now use these services to pay for important expenses like medical bills or education. We were also named again in TIME’s World’s Best Companies of 2024 for our positive societal impact. As a single parent with three growing children 👧 👦 👧 who still depended on me, it was a scary time. Yet, amidst the chaos, a beacon of hope emerged from an unexpected source – my children. With their unwavering support and boundless encouragement, they became my pillars of strength. United by blood and bound by love, we stood together, ready to face whatever came our way. It was in this moment of solidarity that the seed of a new beginning 🌱 was planted. Their simple yet powerful words of encouragement echoed through the trials, "No matter what, Ma, we will go forth." After many technical distractions, the team has been able to build SAFE as it was meant to be. The results have been amazing and we have moved to running regular test networks to prove out and interrogate key protocol features. It’s still wildly ambitious to bootstrap such a network, even with perfect code, but it’s one we will tackle and get right. With the tech stack stable, we’re now finally able to move from what has essentially been a huge R&D project, into a viable decentralised alternative to the internet as we know it. The time to find a leader to help us to launch had come. Someone who believed in the mission, comprehended the size of the vision and who had the experience and energy to step in and steer the ship as we grow. It would be no easy position to fill, MaidSafe having only had me as its CEO since 2006 (with a brief co-ceo for a year or so) and with us readying to launch, this hire would be one of the most critical decisions in the company’s history. The challenge should have been immense and we started in the way that you might expect with a headhunter, we encountered some true serendipity ... and were introduced to Sarah Buxton ... Sarah (or Bux as she is commonly known) seemed like a real go-getter and had a track record, right in our space. More than that she was available, if we fought hard enough to get her. And we did! If you ever get a chance to talk with or listen to Bux, I would guess you’d see exactly what we did - a highly capable and passionate person, who obviously gets things done. Perhaps everyone looking to fill such a position would come across the same - but she really is made of something different. Bux not only “gets it”, she has no fear, literally zero fear … she walks the walk, jumps in, creates momentum and pushes everyone forward, all while checking in to make sure she’s not pushing too hard or too far. Bux is a team player but I know her unique skill set and boundless energy will be felt far beyond it. This wee Bux is taking us to launch - already reversing the MaidSafe rule of never providing a timescale (she wants us to live and breathe such things). Bux is now with us and I’ve no doubt that she will help us to ensure that folks all over the world will benefit from the truly decentralised, private network we’ve been building for these last many years. This week I turned down my dream tech job... . . . . And I'm so proud of myself! Wait... What? 🤔 Here's the story: I'm lucky to have stayed connected with some incredibly influential individuals at one of the world's leading venture capital funds since my time on the board at flatfair, and occasionally they reach out to talk to me about exec roles in their portfolio companies 🌐 Last week was one such occasion, and boy was it a good'un! 😍 A hugely successful LegalTech company, where the GC/CLO role is front and centre and as focused on ops as it is on legal (my absolute fave combo - also incidentally why I love regulated FinTech), where the team are amazing, the pay is amazing and they're likely on track for a pretty epic exit within a reasonable timeframe 📈 💸 Why turn it down then, I hear you ask❓ The truth is, I'm just not ready to take on another of these mega roles just now 🤷♀️ I've hustled hard my whole life - first as a barrister, then in disruptive tech - constantly chasing the next big title, the biggest pay check, the board seat, the direct reports, the status... 💨 But when I really sat with this opportunity and the decision whether or not to accept it, I realised that it just didn't feel aligned ❌ I think there's a few reasons for this (which have everything to do with me and nothing at all to do with this amazing company): 👉 Firstly, since leaving the Bar, I forgot how much I love self-employment, and these days I absolutely relish the freedom and variety that my fractional GC work with LegalEdge offers me. I really want to continue to support some of my awesome clients for the longer term - including Superhog, Thompson Taraz, Homemove, Landytech and Nodes & Links just to name a few 🚀 👉 Secondly, after recently completing some serious life admin, I'm planning some BIG personal moves this year (watch this space), and I want to give myself the space to embrace those fully 🕶️ 👉 Finally, I'm loving the direction I'm taking Elevate. in, and I want to leave room in my schedule for more epic retreats and collabs alongside my work in tech, both of which fulfil me in such different ways 🤝 And so on balance, it's just not the time to dive into another C-Suite role which - while undoubtedly in some respects would be amazing for my career - would also take more from me than I'm willing to give right now 💼 Maybe the biggest learning of all is realising that as you get more and more senior and experienced, you know that these incredible opportunities aren't just going to come around once... I know I'm good at my job, and great roles will continue to present themselves 🔄 But sometimes the most powerful move you can make to preserve the longevity of your career, your complete values hierachy, and your general wellbeing, is to say thank you so much, but no 🤚 💜 #BigDecisions #CareerTransition #Boards #GeneralCounsel #StartUps

Insights from one of our latest team member Sweta Sah🤝💼 Moritz Enders from the People Circle recently sat down with Sweta to interview her about her journey to Fintiba GmbH and her aspirations moving forward. Sweta started as Product Owner Customer Support in the beginning of October. Here’s a snapshot of what she shared: 🔍 How did you hear about Fintiba? "I first discovered Fintiba in the fall of 2021 while preparing to move to Germany as a student. I needed a blocked account, so I researched various service providers and chose Fintiba. Later, in 2024, while exploring product opportunities in the fintech space, I came across Fintiba again." 🌟 What motivated you to apply to Fintiba? "I was inspired by Fintiba’s statement that “employees should see themselves as entrepreneurs within the company.” This resonates with me, as I thrive in fast-paced environments where I can drive change and make an impact. As a customer, I truly appreciated the product, and I couldn’t imagine a better opportunity to contribute to something I believe in. Additionally, the company’s diverse, international culture is a significant asset for me as an expat." 📝 How did you feel about the application process? "Although I didn’t go through the formal application process initially, I found the experience to be well-structured and organized. My interactions with both the HR representative and the product team made it clear that Fintiba values talent and fosters an environment where individuals can thrive. Moreover, the team was also incredibly supportive during my visa process, reinforcing my belief in the company’s commitment to its employees." 💡 Key learnings from the experience? Long post, but stick with me; it might just brighten your day! 😀 Amma and Daddy dropped by the office the other day. Just over a year ago, they had inaugurated this space. Back then, we had only one employee and a handful of clients. Today, at FinStackk , we're a team of about 20 people managing over 150 clients, all working towards a common dream: to become the go-to solution for all finance and compliance needs of US businesses, powered by our services and technology. What was once Satya Yeruva 's idea has now become a shared vision among enthusiasts from different backgrounds, each contributing to realizing our collective dream. It wouldn't be fair to single out any one person because everyone on the team continues to play their part in delivering the best for the long-term vision. However, I must highlight one person who has been our biggest cheerleader throughout – Amma. Just look at her beaming smile in the picture! Why, you ask? Not just because she's my mother, but also because she's been the strongest supporter and cheerleader for us. I vividly recall her presence in the living room discussion when Satya shared the idea of FinStackk (which didn't even have a name back then) with me. Almost immediately, she exclaimed, 'You guys should do it! I may not be educated enough to understand what it is, but I know Satya, and I know you. Because you believe in the idea and people on this journey, you should do it.' From that day, she's been there every step of the way – from our first office opening to occasionally offering her savings to support us (because she thinks startups keep running out of money 😂) to spreading the word about our hiring needs and sending profiles, even to this day. She even sends pickles and snacks for the team because I mentioned they weren't enjoying the catering food. On her second and only visit after we opened the office, she brought prasad for the team because, as she says, prayers and blessings are important. One of the most gratifying feelings for me is seeing her happiness and pride in our growth. While much of this might seem emotional, it has practically helped us a lot in our journey. Emotions are real and practical. At FinStackk , we've come a long way. Our tech products are ready and will be launching soon (follow our page FinStackk for updates). Among all these developments, we want to take a moment to thank Amma and acknowledge all the amazing things she does for us.
