The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) 🇸🇬 has announced plans to advance asset tokenization in financial services through 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧. Key points include: ✔️ MAS aims to form commercial networks, develop market infrastructures, foster industry frameworks, and enable access to common settlement facilities for tokenized assets. ✔️ Project Guardian has involved over 40 financial institutions 🏦 and policymakers across seven jurisdictions, conducting more than 15 industry trials in six currencies. ✔️ The Guardian Wholesale Network industry group has been formed by major banks to commercialize asset tokenization trials. ✔️ MAS launched the 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐧𝐞 (𝐆𝐋1) initiative to develop foundational digital infrastructures for commercial networks. ✔️ Two industry frameworks were published: the 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (𝐆𝐅𝐈𝐅) and the 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (𝐆𝐅𝐅) to guide tokenization implementation. ✔️ MAS is facilitating access to common settlement assets, including S$ wholesale CBDC, through a test network (SGD Testnet) for eligible financial institutions. 💡 These initiatives aim to improve capital raising, secondary trading, asset servicing, and settlement of tokenized assets while deepening liquidity across markets. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced plans to support the commercialisation of asset tokenisation.  MAS will expand activities under The Global Layer One (GL1) Initiative to design an open digital infrastructure of international standards.  This will align governance, risk management controls, and settlement arrangements for cross-border transactions.  MAS aims to form commercial networks to deepen liquidity in tokenised assets through Project Guardian.  This will facilitate seamless transactions of tokenised assets across networks.  Two industry frameworks, the Guardian Fixed Income Framework (GFIF) and the Guardian Funds Framework (GFF), have been published to guide the implementation of tokenisation in debt capital markets and funds.  MAS will facilitate access to common settlement assets, including the Singapore dollar wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC), for market testing purposes.  This initiative will improve fundraising, secondary trading, asset servicing, and settlement of tokenised assets.  It will also support the development of digital infrastructure and common standards to enable industry-wide adoption of tokenisation. Based on this, I posit MAS could potentially accept tokenised carbon credits.  MAS has already shown interest in supporting innovative financial solutions, including the commercialisation of asset tokenisation.  MAS has launched the Transition Credits Coalition to develop a new class of carbon credits aimed at accelerating the closure of coal-fired power plants.  Tokenised carbon credits align with MAS’s goal of promoting sustainable finance and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.  Tokenisation improves the efficiency of carbon markets by simplifying transactions and increasing liquidity.  By facilitating the trading of tokenised carbon credits, MAS helps achieve global climate goals, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting renewable energy. MAS has launched the Transition Credits Coalition, which includes financial institutions, carbon exchanges, standard setters, and NGOs.  This coalition aims to develop a new class of carbon credits to accelerate the closure of coal-fired power plants.  MAS has initiated pilot projects to test the use of high-integrity transition credits in transactions for the early retirement of coal-fired power plants.  These credits are generated by retiring a coal plant early and replacing it with clean energy sources.  This is a good base to expand to general trading of fungible compliance carbon credits. I respectfully disagree with this article especially on these main two points: 1: "you can't really "own" them, legally speaking" Malaysia's Capital Markets Services Act 2007 has defined digital currency (which includes Bitcoin) as a sᴇᴄᴜʀɪᴛʏ and therefore has the same treatment as stocks and bonds in this lovely country I call home. This is really contrary to the article's central theme. 2: "thieves” stealing your assets from your wallet, and “should you forget, you would be locked out forever” These problems are valid, but there are other ways of securing and safekeeping (e.g. enterprise grade custody like what Halogen Capital does with its funds) that strongly mitigates the risks outlined. Thieves deserve to be persecuted to the extent that the law of the land allows, but don’t make it easy for them by only have one lock to your house front door.

Beware if you are asked for an OTP and you did not receive it. Since Friday night, I could not receive OTP for a messaging app. I jumped to the conclusion that it is due to the application. On Sunday morning, I discovered that I could not receive any incoming calls and SMS. Outgoing was OK. Called the carrier for help. After 1 director, 4 duty managers, 5-6 call agents, my issue has not be resolved. On the second call, they knew that my calls and SMS has been diverted to another carrier and number. Callers told me some one answered and hung up. The carrier said it is a complicated issue. Made a police report, disabled those apps that I can. Good to see PM highlighting the weakness of OTP but hoping to see action by the regulators as well as the carrier fixing my issue. <EC EOD Brief> - 17 Jul Overbought Oct Contract? EC2410 lagged behind other contracts today. New shorts built up during the day, and long liquidation occurred towards the end of the session. The price rose merely 0.36% to 4388.8. The market diverged in the last 15-30 mins of trading today: EC2410 and EC2412 saw long liquidation, while EC2504 and EC2506 experienced short covering, indicating a possible sentiment shift. MKT OI -1k to 114k lots, MKT Vol +20k to 188k lots.

Pinjols are extremely dangerous ! I absolutely agree and support this statement. Pinjol is most probably the worst problem after Judol (Online Gambling) for Indonesians and these problems usually go hand-in-hand. Pinjol is extremely dangerous because : a. Pinjols are illegal. They are not licensed nor supervised by OJK. b. Pinjols mimick P2P Lending platforms on their ads, often stealing logos and twisting names. c. No risk control and credit scoring process. Basically all loans are approved and whats more crazy is when user inputs their bank account, the loan is suddenly disbursed to the user bank account WITHOUT USER APPLYING FOR LOAN. d. Loan tenors are mostly very short. Often only 7 days e. Interest rates can go as high as possible (with no limits) f. Debt collectors will use all kind of terror methods, even terrorizing everyone in the borrowers contact list. g. Most people cannot differentiate between illegal pinjols with legal P2P platforms who are licensed by OJK and heavily supervised and monitored by OJK AND HERE COMES THE SADNESS AND IRONY --> PINJOL IMAGE IS SO BAD AND IT DRAGS DOWN LEGAL P2P PLATFORMS ALSO. P2P IS NOT PINJOL If only people can realize how legal P2P platforms operate and how we are supervised and AUDITED ANNUALLY by OJK. OJK regulations for P2P companies are becoming very similar to regulations for banks. If only people can realize that all legal P2P platforms have helped tens of millions Indonesians with their financial requirements such as health, education, modal kerja, UMKM etc especially during the Pandemic. These people are often underbanked or even unbanked meaning that it is almost impossible for them to borrow from banks. If only people can realize that the existence of P2P helps people not borrowing from loansharks. We are from the P2P industry in Indonesia, including myself, we have suffered tremendously (both financially and our reputation) due to association with illegal pinjols. MAS need to create Gold and Bitcoin backed CBDC. CPF need to hold CBDC account to protect against HDB 99 year lease decay/currency devaluation for retirement account. US Federal Reserve Notes system unsustainable. PM Wong need to give Currency Strategy in May 2024 before future currency collapse/hyperinflation/global financial crises scenario.

Hamilton Lane is collaborating with Alta Exchange (AltaX) and Phillip Securities Pte Ltd under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)'s Project Guardian to enhance liquidity through tokenization. The three firms will collaborate on broadening access to the tokenized version of Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities (“SCOPE”) Fund. Listed on AltaX and launched in March 2023, SCOPE is a senior private credit vehicle that offers safety and yield for investors. Luke Lim, Managing Director of Phillip Securities, said the partnership represents "an exciting frontier for Phillip Securities as we continue to innovate and develop new investment products for our clients." "By combining our expertise and resources, we are able to bring cutting-edge solutions to meet the evolving and diverse needs of sophisticated investors," he added. The tokenization and listing of SCOPE on AltaX marked the completion of the first strategic phase for the partnership. Its first phase enabled accredited and institutional investors to manage risk, respond to market conditions, and engage with a global trading community. Phase two aims to broaden access to private credit by exploring the potential introduction of the world’s first Shariah-compliant tokenized private credit fund, targeting the growing global Islamic funds market. Victor (Ji Woong) Jung, head of digital assets at Hamilton Lane, said, "We are focused on continuing to innovate around this offering, opening doors to investors of all types and fostering a more inclusive financial ecosystem.
