It's official... 6 months after launching Flag & Frontier and I'm fully booked for the rest of 2024. Here's what I've learned in this first chapter: 1 - The best prospects I talk with don't haggle over price. They're playing to win, and they want the best. 2 - I wish I could say I have some well-oiled biz dev machine. I don't. Referrals and word-of-mouth have been huge. And it's a big reason why I'm so focused on strong outcomes for my current clients. 3 - In two deals, I was competing against big-name agencies. I won anyway. I asked clients why. It's because my process is clear and I remove unknowns from what the engagement will look like. 4 - Good advice is always worth paying for. Ken Yarmosh has played a big role here, and I'm excited to keep working with him. 5 - Strategic narrative work is therapy as much as it is strategy. Clients often need courage, perspective, and conviction – which I'm helping them find. 6 - As a consultant, being at odds with competitors is dumb. The pie is big enough for everyone, and it helps to learn and support each other. Josh Lowman 💈 in particular has been awesome to have as an ally. 7 - The mental game is harder than I thought. Some days I feel uber confident, others like I have no business doing the work. Learning to get better at this. p.s. this is my new work buddy, Nico. Another classic case for tech driven company for not understanding the dynamics of the fifth largest populous country and defying rules of prudent business management. In my opinion, lessons learned: 1. Think beyond VC provided funds 2. Understand the market before launching businesses. 2. Ideally speaking - companies should have operating profit at 50% VC burnout 3. Price is always market given- Don't try to dictate the market 4. Bad hiring- expensive and excessive resources always end up leaving less space for price manoeuvrability. 5. Companies less vocal on social media are more successful.

Strongly disagree Even a globally competitive fintech like UK's Monzo, Starling Bank will collapse in protectionist, Govt micromanaged Pakistan. Where the most inefficient players like NBP, #Sindh Bank have guaranteed deposit base. Taxpayers like you and I paid for massive holes in the balance sheet of Bank of Punjab pre Zafar Masud due to major politically motivated corruption scandals under Pervaiz Elahi's government. Just look at #America's most powerful bank JP Morgan's CEO #JamieDimon, who is constantly engaging on social media, with the public at large. #McDonald's global CEO is even incredibly active on public #Instagram. #NBP has the largest current account bank. It should be a market leader in Agricultural loans, credit card, SME financing. It should be the leader in innovations in branch service delivery like self service digital banking. #Nayapay, #Sadapay with infinitely far, far fewer resources showed us applied dynamic innovation like convenient #NADRA biometric verification in app. We should not be using this as a 'GOTCHA' moment to mock Sadapay. We should instead mourn, lament the lethargic, protectionist business environment in Pakistan, which is most ill suited for a country that will swell to 400,000,000 people by 2050, majority of whom will be young and will need jobs, opportunities. #NomadInvestor

#Anupam_Mittal rightly said once in some shark tank episode => I can be your customer but not investor to someone. Similiarly, there are fancy businesses going on currently, like quick commerce - I can be customer but I will never invest my money or join as employee, bcoz I believe such businesses will never grow in the long term, so, there is always risk associated with such jobs. Software Engineers, specially once grown, need to understand job market, technical skills is needed for interview and work, but as a TECHIE, it's not our expertise to think about non-tech stuff - That's a very bad mentality, it has dependency, the market, global finance, it's 2024, can't be blindly joining a company based on CTC or in hand salary only. If you are about to join any start up, please look back at the founder's history 👇 1. Did thier companies last over 5+ years or so or not.. 2. Education background, yeah it matters but not the only factor, don't blindly go for TAGs and all. 3. Did they layoff employees in mass numbers after few years and SPECIALLY those people joined other good product based companies, if yes, that means, there is non tech issue in founders or their business - BIG RED FLAG My personal opinion, nothing against quick commerce, it's just that, this looks fancy at the beginning but it makes us more lazy and destroys our habit, I won't even listen to the excuses that it saves time, no it doesn't, it's just a discipline thing and nothing else. I myself used this that apps few time, but then I realised it, price is more, things are not fresh always, and habit...... let's forget about it. “Put your money where your mouth is.” they say. So this is one of the moments in life where a sentence like that becomes reality. At least for me it is. I have been lucky to have been driving transformational branding and commercial growth processes for all kinds of brands, both in Scandinavia and in Europe for almost two decades. For one of those brands, a specialist fintech player focusing on tech-driven niche banking and insurance, I have been a part of the brand's inception, startup phase, scaling and growing phase, and strategic development over the past 7(!) years. 🥷🏼 Little did i know that the management team turned the assignments into the longest job-interview process known to mankind. 😊😊 I have always loved companies that don’t stand still, firms that dare to challenge, little players that aspire to be big, and outliers that see opportunity where others see barriers. And this is definitely one of them. This thing is going places, scaling in more countries, broader financial products and solutions portfolio for both private and corporate clients, and it will be part of my job to make sure this happens as fast, and as profitable as possible. So now, it is time to step down from leading The Brand Project, hand it over to Carina Åkredalen Løvbræk, and start this new chapter. Francois will be responsible for scaling and improving the Company’s enterprise-wide operations to better support MoneyHero’s next chapter of growth as a public company.
