Store, manage and build with your data. Forever and encrypted.

About us

Founded by David Irvine in 2006, Autonomi is a truly decentralized network. Run on everyday devices. Quantum secure, encrypted data as standard. The network is made up for unused hard drive space, process power and bandwidth of users. Hosts, who provide unused network access, are paid for their excess resource. The network calculates the cost of the services, (such as storage, communications and in time computation) providing it to the user at the lowest possible price. An autonomous network, not a set of servers, or owned storage locations, or identifiable nodes. This means no human intervention. An autonomous network are self-healing, self-configuring and self managing; similar to a colony of ants, there is no centralised authority in control and yet it’s highly optimised and effective. The open source Network will enable application developers to create and launch applications across all platforms on an open API where all the infrastructure costs are provided by the network's users. An internal and automated reward system, provides an in-built revenue stream.

Great to be at the #WebSummit in Lisbon with the Autonomi team. Brief thoughts after the first full day… And a shout out to some more allies Brittany Kaiser and DrumWave Inc. who, like us, are building some real solutions for data ownership, and not just talking about it (for yet another year). Something is brewing away from the main stages 😉

  • The Alternative Future of the Cloud Autonomi is here🌐 A decentralized, secure and open system that gives power back to users and builders. Our Network has officially entered Early Launch Phase. We're creating a future where your data, creations and contributions are sovereign and untouchable by centralized forces. Built for everyone, run by everyone. 🌍 This is the foundation of the next generation - where individuals, creators and operators are rewarded for their participation and ownership. Join us now! Take back control and be part of the future, with Autonomi 🚀 https://autonomi.com/

  • Perhaps for some of you, it will feel a little strange saying goodbye to the SAFE Network name, but we hope, as things roll out as we head to launch later this year, that you will feel our new name reflects the mission, the value - and what this technology, that we've all championed for so long, will do for people everywhere. If you'd like to know more about Autonomi, you can find the latest version of our White Paper at the link below: https://lnkd.in/eQ6ixuc9 #Depin #Decentralized #DataPrivacy #DApp

  • After many technical distractions, the team has been able to build SAFE as it was meant to be. The results have been amazing and we have moved to running regular test networks to prove out and interrogate key protocol features. It’s still wildly ambitious to bootstrap such a network, even with perfect code, but it’s one we will tackle and get right. With the tech stack stable, we’re now finally able to move from what has essentially been a huge R&D project, into a viable decentralised alternative to the internet as we know it. The time to find a leader to help us to launch had come. Someone who believed in the mission, comprehended the size of the vision and who had the experience and energy to step in and steer the ship as we grow. It would be no easy position to fill, MaidSafe having only had me as its CEO since 2006 (with a brief co-ceo for a year or so) and with us readying to launch, this hire would be one of the most critical decisions in the company’s history. The challenge should have been immense and we started in the way that you might expect with a headhunter, we encountered some true serendipity ... and were introduced to Sarah Buxton ... Sarah (or Bux as she is commonly known) seemed like a real go-getter and had a track record, right in our space. More than that she was available, if we fought hard enough to get her. And we did! If you ever get a chance to talk with or listen to Bux, I would guess you’d see exactly what we did - a highly capable and passionate person, who obviously gets things done. Perhaps everyone looking to fill such a position would come across the same - but she really is made of something different. Bux not only “gets it”, she has no fear, literally zero fear … she walks the walk, jumps in, creates momentum and pushes everyone forward, all while checking in to make sure she’s not pushing too hard or too far. Bux is a team player but I know her unique skill set and boundless energy will be felt far beyond it. This wee Bux is taking us to launch - already reversing the MaidSafe rule of never providing a timescale (she wants us to live and breathe such things). Bux is now with us and I’ve no doubt that she will help us to ensure that folks all over the world will benefit from the truly decentralised, private network we’ve been building for these last many years. Fully encrypted; no middlemen and no leaks, built for you and designed exactly as it should be, for what comes next. • We are now 18. The world's a different place from when we were conceived. We’ve iPhones, big data, social networks and much more. Cryptocurrencies and web 3.0 have all happened, but our solution to a real problem has not changed. It has become much more critical. We set out to secure the world's data. We designed this logically, connecting all the world's computers and using encryption to share the world's devices. We did this so that we would not have to rely on the large corporations and data-centres. That has changed. The big change that is happening, very quickly, is that data is just boring and can mean anything, or nothing. Knowledge is what we actually need to protect. Not the paper, stone tablets or parchment, but the words and wisdom that are communicated by them. Computing has changed, we were always a probabilistic inspired network in a deterministic world. It was hard to get folk to understand and many times we failed to do so. However, as Bitcoin showed cryptocurrencies as we envisaged were valid, neural networks and AI has shown probabilistic computing is not only possible, but it's significantly able to achieve more complex things, like computers actually speaking to us and understanding us. So we have (or we will have) knowledge based networks, probabilistically encoded (natural) systems backed with highly concurrent cryptocurrencies. In all of this AI has appeared to the masses as a thing to fear, worship or wonder about. Wherever your perspective, what is clear, is that it is real. What is also clear is that it must not be controlled by centralised forces of any kind, be it governments or corporations. Our world has changed, but our mission has strengthened. Stealing our data and serving lousy adverts was an issue, the hassles of intrusion in our private life was a pain. It was not life threatening for most and in fact the world decided to pay the price of privacy for convenience.  Now though, with controlled AI, it's no longer shopping that is the worry, it's potentially civilisation wide control, and we won't even know it's happening. It's no longer a trivial thing we can sell for convenience, this is a threat to a species like none seen before. That's only AI, just computer programs, we also have robots coming and again, central control is far too dangerous, it cannot happen. They should not be and cannot be under the control of a government, corporation or a cohort of powers. The world has changed, our mission just got bigger, the opportunities are bigger, there is an overwhelming need for secure, unfettered access to the world we are about to enter.. We must allow the people to seize the opportunity these advances provide. We must give everyone the power to engage with these superpowers, and to do so freely and without fear of being left behind. What we have been building and what it will do to protect and empower every individual on the planet, is something we’re looking forward to sharing with you very soon.
