I believe that the heart of any training lies with the attendee. I can introduce and teach any model, but true learning only happens when the attendee is willing and ready to grow. Over the years, I’ve done it all, facilitation needs analysis, coaching, online and in-person delivery. I can guide, inspire, and challenge, but here’s the truth: while I control the structure, content, flow, and environment for learning, I can’t force growth. If someone shows up with the wrong mindset, thinking they’re doing me a favour by being there or believing they already know it all, meaningful learning won’t happen. Growth begins with an open mind and a readiness to learn. And you might wonder why am I sharing this. I am sharing it because I’ve seen firsthand how a growth mindset changes everything. It transforms a training session from a tick-the-box exercise into a launchpad for real, impactful change. And because I believe this conversation matters, it’s about everyone involved in learning embracing the idea that growth is a two-way street. Thoughts? #LearningAndDevelopment

What kind of manager are you? In all my work with leaders, utilizing the Gallup research and tools, I’ve learned that the data is true. Managers matter. But do managers actually have the tools and confidence to lead their teams? Are they authorized to take action? Do they have the right metrics in place to build accountability for results? In my experience, it cannot be assumed, and it’s best to build a community of managers. Let’s build a cohort of fully equipped managers for 2025.
