TitletownTech is one of the coolest businesses and buildings in the heart of Green Bay, WI! For the last two days, I have been able to work with the Universities of Wisconsin and the Continuing Education Directors from all over the state to collaborate and share best practices. It is motivating and inspiring to see what we can do together to support the workforce needs of Wisconsin. A big thanks to Craig Dickman for being a great host and ambassador for our region and beyond!! #greenbay #ilovegreenbay #uwgb #continuingeducation

Our city would benefit greatly by more formally engaging our students, both high school and university/college, because they are allowed to envision our future (as they'll be living it). The students and faculties at SDUSD, UCSD, SDSU, USD, UCSM, Palomar, Sweetwater, and City College all have the energy and ability to bring big ideas to the future of San Diego... that they can champion to build in the future. It's a powerful source of innovation that is being left on the table when discussing our long-standing housing, homeless, and climatic crises. How? Invite them to lead the vision plans for our community plan updates, our historical resources reforms, and housing action plan 3.0.

As an alumnus of Triangle Tech Greensburg, it makes me sad to see the place close. I have some great memories quirky memories of the place. The elevator would flood every time it rained, we had hand drafting classes because they didn’t have enough computers, a kid from another term fell through an interior partition because the studs were like 3’ o.c., and even in the early 2000s we had a half of semester where we didn’t have an instructor. The building was beat 20 some years ago. That being said, the staff was great, I did learn a lot, and Triangle Tech gave me my start. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of different people and do a lot of different jobs related to my ArchCAD degree. Triangle Tech was part of my journey, the first stepping stone, I’ll always be grateful for that. That being said, with the rise of community colleges and technical high schools there probably are more viable options these days. The world changes, and you either adapt or you get left behind. Today, I’m Regional Design Manager for 84 Lumber’s Mid-Atlantic Component Division, thanks in part to my training at Triangle Tech. I currently have the privilege of supporting 4 design departments and over 30 designers and trainees. At 84 we are a growing business, so I do a lot of interviewing every year to find trainees and experienced designers alike. In fact, right now I’m actively trying to recruit an in-house trainee position at our Winchester VA facility. For all you Triangle Tech students out there displaced by this, don’t lose heart, there are a lot of opportunities out there with good companies looking for talented/ driven individuals, and are willing to train you on the job. I might be selfishly plugging my own company, but there are a lot of other good companies and positions out there. When I interview for trainees, sure I love to see candidates with a Tech School or Community College degree, but if you had some CAD classes in high school or vocation / technical high school you would still be considered. The best kept non-secret is we chose the best applicant for each position, but you have to apply to be considered. Use your networking skills reach out to Alumni on LinkedIn, or other social media sources, and get your name out there. 84 and most larger companies have tons of open training positions. Be willing to start at the bottom and work up, you’ll get there. You are in a better position than you think, with an aging/shrinking US population all of us big employers are competing for talent. We desperately need you, young eager workers. You are our future too.

Date: Monday, Nov.4th, 2024 Time: 6 PM to 8 PM Location: Creative Grounds - 395 N E St, Unit 101B, San Bernardino, CA RSVP: buff.ly/48yJxdC Why Attend the Workshop? Community Impact /// Hands-On Learning -Learn how to create eye-catching, effective signage that can spark conversations and raise awareness about CBAs -Walk away with a finished piece that can be displayed at rallies, town halls, or in your neighborhood. -Connect with like-minded neighbors and advocates who care about the community's future. Why CBAs? A Community Benefits Agreement or CBA is a legally binding agreement between developers and coalitions of community organizations that addresses a broad range of community needs. We see CBA’s as a tool to shift large economic development to reflect the communities’ needs. Projects like that at the Carousel Mall site and the San Bernardino International Airport which currently have left the community out of decision making leading to possible housing displacement, development plans that don’t include environmental benefits, and project plans that don’t provide local hire and training to build a sustainable local economy. View Just SB Resources Here: https://buff.ly/4fe7PwE Just SB's Mission Just San Bernardino’s mission is to foster an inclusive economy within the city of San Bernardino through economic mobility strategies such as Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs), housing, purposeful career pathways within the school district, and land acquisition. These priorities guide our efforts to build a thriving and resilient community with access to prosperity. What story is being sold about Denver? Ednium started the Denver Deep Dive because we learned that alumni weren’t aware or have access to the systems that help run our city. For nine months, we engaged with the community and learned how Denver's systems are interconnected. The Denver Deep Dive stood out by taking participants to unique city locations: The Denver City & County Building, Comal Heritage (a local food incubator), the CSU Spur Campus, Moline at Stapleton Apartments (an affordable housing community), the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Building, Manual High School, and Gary Community Ventures. We covered nine topics: 1️⃣ Denver’s History 2️⃣ Education 3️⃣ Economic Development 4️⃣ Housing 5️⃣ Environment 6️⃣ Transportation 7️⃣ Gastronomy 8️⃣ City Politics 9️⃣ Arts & Culture We learned the importance of curiosity and looking beyond the surface of the stories about Denver. Before the modern Denver we know today, indigenous people lived on this land. The phrase, “We did not cross the border, the border crossed us,” reflects how people became Americans overnight by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo after the Mexican-American War. In our city politics session we discovered the feedback gap between community needs and the people whose job it is to address and solve those needs. In our housing session, it was shocking to hear that originally HOAs were created to upkeep the image of a residential community. City residents are legally obligated to pay HOA dues, but overtime HOAs have become a burdensome fee rather than providing tangible value to residents. We also learned that affordable housing can be built to match the quality of other apartment complexes. Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Denver Deep Dive. Your curiosity made this program a success! Thank you to all the guest speakers for sharing valuable lessons. We envision a future where homegrown talent holds leadership roles throughout the city. With the Denver Deep Dive, we are one step closer to that future. #EdniumAlumni #EducationLeadership #HomegrownTalent #HomegrownAwards
