With mainstream access to AI tools relatively new, it’s no surprise that organisations are struggling to form a strategic approach to adopting and embedding these transformative tools. AI adoption – from ‘why’ to ‘how’  I'm pleased to be able to share our webinar with AI expert guest speaker, Robert Aitchison. We decided to run this webinar in response to conversations with a number of Aptem customers who can see the potential of large language models and AI tools but have yet to adopt them widely and strategically within their organisations.   Hugely insightful, with many takeaways that translate into the discussions we are all having today; what I came away with was the following:  1. ‘The art hasn’t changed; just the tools.’ A key message that resonates with our sector and the value providers bring to the world of work and skills.   2. AI will likely be front and centre to more of a human-centred approach to work, not less.   3. AI has a vital part to play in retaining and developing staff more broadly.   4. Ofsted recognises that AI tools can help providers ‘make better-informed decisions, reduce workload and lead to innovative ways of working’. The onus is on the provider to adopt AI safely and within the published regulatory principles.   5. Risks/legal pitfalls associated with in-house development of generative AI are significant.   6. Organised Data is the foundation for an AI toolset.   7. External tools need to come from trusted partners.   8. AI will change your organisation; you should approach it as any other change management initiative.    9. Generative AI tools are currently reaching a plateau.    10. Had an amazing time in Leeds and Manchester speaking to schools about our systems and how we can help. One thing stood out and that was that so many schools talked about the stress around managing the post-16 bursaries ensuring everything is documented and ready for audits as any mistakes could result in the funding being taken away. Which can have a huge knock-on effect on students and the school. We then talked about our system Bursary16+ which includes ESFA To-Do Lists, Checklists, and Audit Sheets, simplifying compliance and reducing administrative burden and more importantly stress. We then discussed how we monitor any changes in the guidelines to adapt the system each year. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, schools already using our system report a significant increase in student applications. Very interesting afternoon read of the latest report from the UK Parliament Education Committee. Discussing some of the key areas of improvement and support needed to help our teachers and improve our education system. The current high staff turnover rate in our education system not only disrupts school environments but also impacts student learning. With 92% of teaching staff stating workload and 57% stating pay as the main 2 reasons to leave the profession, investing in comprehensive and time efficient staff training programmes can be a game-changer. One thing stood out head and shoulders above everything else at World of Learning for me👇🏼 Whilst everyone was talking about AI and how it’s going to help with learning design and delivery… 🚨 very few were talking about how they are going to prepare their leaders for AI. AI has helped me with the role I do already, but I’ve adopted it because I love the to learn about new ways of working - plus I listen, watch and read a lot of what Andrew Whyatt-Sames and Jake Dunlap say. BUT, not many leaders I’ve spoken to have even raised their awareness of AI and how it might be able to improve their capabilities and help their team. This is a huge risk for these people personally and it will also impact the organisations they work for. #GenAI #FutureReadyLeaders #Leadership #LearningandDevelopment
