With mainstream access to AI tools relatively new, it’s no surprise that organisations are struggling to form a strategic approach to adopting and embedding these transformative tools. AI adoption – from ‘why’ to ‘how’ I'm pleased to be able to share our webinar with AI expert guest speaker, Robert Aitchison. We decided to run this webinar in response to conversations with a number of Aptem customers who can see the potential of large language models and AI tools but have yet to adopt them widely and strategically within their organisations. Hugely insightful, with many takeaways that translate into the discussions we are all having today; what I came away with was the following: 1. ‘The art hasn’t changed; just the tools.’ A key message that resonates with our sector and the value providers bring to the world of work and skills. 2. AI will likely be front and centre to more of a human-centred approach to work, not less. 3. AI has a vital part to play in retaining and developing staff more broadly. 4. Ofsted recognises that AI tools can help providers ‘make better-informed decisions, reduce workload and lead to innovative ways of working’. The onus is on the provider to adopt AI safely and within the published regulatory principles. 5. Risks/legal pitfalls associated with in-house development of generative AI are significant. 6. Organised Data is the foundation for an AI toolset. 7. External tools need to come from trusted partners. 8. AI will change your organisation; you should approach it as any other change management initiative. 9. Generative AI tools are currently reaching a plateau. 10. Organisations will benefit from embracing the opportunities presented by AI today. Here's the link below!

I have had some interesting conversations over the last few weeks, around AI in Education and Training, I have seen AI used to make videos around specific subjects, I have seen it write course material based on what it knows/can find out and I have been left speechless but I have also wondered how can we adapt what we do as an Awarding Body? We award and certificate in specialist sectors and occupational roles, meaning a lot of what we do is competency based, but it got me to thinking we would still need to make sure we are verifying written work is that of candidates and not AI generated. We still need to gear up for AI in whatever capacity and agree our stance to better help our centres with this ever changing world. Another question I have been considering (and I know its still learning) but can AI really be used to completely develop courses, making engaging and interactive materials and exam question banks? I get there is a need for human interaction during this process for sense and source checking etc but is this morally right? Can we put, for example, an existing standard into AI and get it re-write it for us without our moral compass kicking in and feeling a pang of guilt?

In an WIRED article from earlier this year, Ryan Roslansky described the impacts that AI will have on the future workforce. It's a really interesting read! “We will increasingly see employers become educators, “training to hire” into ever-changing jobs through onboardings, apprenticeships, and academies, as well as “training to promote” into ever-changing roles through upskilling and tours of duty that take employees into new functions and perhaps even new careers. This will be for hard skills related to AI, but perhaps more importantly, for people skills, too: Our data shows 92 percent of US executives believe people skills are more important than ever.” #wired #upskilling #training #AI #digitalworkplace

Make no mistake, #jobs of tomorrow are mostly unknown, and the impact on the workforce of that is going to be very high! #AI driven business transformation is only upending this landscape faster The need of the hour is to #upskill young adults beyond what they learn in school and college, turning them into problem solvers of tomorrow, not just consumers. AI can play a crucial role in addressing this #skill gap https://lnkd.in/gh6aaMGC

important message from the IMF (IWF): "Education and training policies must adapt to new realities, help prepare workers for the jobs of the future, and be better placed to offer lifelong learning. Sector-based training, apprenticeship, and upskilling and re-skilling programs could play a greater role in helping workers transition to new tasks and sectors." https://lnkd.in/gCzgm4Ec
