Daniel Cable shares scientific research that shows the lack of positive influences, psychological safety, and spaces to truly be curious, our brains will actually re-wire to "𝙈𝙀𝙃." Meaning, we're not *alive* at work. 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘳? This re-wiring means we fall into: 😞focusing on tasks and checklists 😞thinking outside the box activities are just versions of what we already do 😞going through the day to day without joy and curiosity To move from "meh" to engaged takes 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 mindset and actions on a routine basis. 🔥As leaders, at home and at work, there will be times when the uncertain or uncontrollable nature of what is unfolding leaves you feeling unsafe and at risk. We blame our circumstances or other people for making us feel unsafe. And while that may be the case, having an increased sense of personal portable psychological safety can help us navigate the difficulties with more: 💠confidence, 💠clarity and 💠purpose. For while we can’t change other people and we can’t always change our work situations, we can change how we are showing up. 🧔♂️Continuing our spotlight on Men's Mental Health this November, here's your Self-Care Checklist to Resilient Leadership! Leadership requires huge amounts of personal energy, and it's something which is often heavily given to others to support morale and progress. Despite research showing that prioritising self-care is essential for effective leadership, many struggle to incorporate self-care practices into their lives, neglecting their own needs. But how do we recoup our own energy to remain effective as leaders? To shift this narrative, we must embrace a mindset change that paves the way for actionable strategies to integrate self-care into resilient and sustainable leadership. #selfcare #wellbeingforleaders #betterleadership #mentalhealthawarenes #mensmentalhealthmonth #movember2024 #positiveleadership #selfcareintheworkplace

Today, I attended the funeral of one of my employees who passed away. It was a heartbreaking reminder that, as leaders, our responsibilities go far beyond driving numbers, achieving goals, and managing behaviors. We are entrusted with so much more. We are part of their journey to provide for their families. We influence their mental health, celebrate their victories, and support them during life’s hardest moments. Our roles extend to being mentors, advocates, and sometimes a safe space for those we lead. This experience has reinforced my belief that leadership is not just about the professional—it’s about the personal too. It’s about creating an environment where people feel valued not just for what they do, but for who they are. To my fellow leaders: let’s never lose sight of the fact that we are in the business of people. Take the time to know your team. Check in. Be present. Because at the end of the day, it’s the human connections we build that truly make a difference. #Leadership #PeopleMatter #Culture #Archtelecom #RafealCalderon #NewEngland #Northeast

It’s shocking how little thought was given to leadership wellbeing and mental health in today’s launch of the Industrial Strategy! Leaders are expected to fuel economic growth, but where’s the investment in their resilience and emotional intelligence? Ignoring leadership wellbeing isn’t just careless, it’s a threat to long-term growth. We can’t build a thriving economy if our leaders are burnt out 😡 #LeadershipWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #EconomicGrowth #IndustrialStrategy #Resilience #EmotionalIntelligence

Do you know that lack of recognition if a psychosocial hazard? During this time of year, people are tired, some might feel burnt out and many of us are scraping the bottom of the tank to get through. This is a crucial time to make sure your staff feel appreciated and seen for their efforts. It doesn't take much to genuinely look someone in the eye and say "Thanks for all your hard work." Try it. It can make all the difference to how someone feels that day. #psychosocialsafety #psychosocialhazards #traumainformed #leadership #empathy #emotionalintelligence #traumainformedleadership
