  • It's almost December which means we are approaching the last month of the year, an ideal time to reflect! In a rapidly evolving business landscape, organisations that continually reflect on and improve their people skills are more likely to thrive. By prioritising interpersonal dynamics and adopting a collaborative culture, businesses can enhance their operational effectiveness and drive long-term success. 5 Reasons Why you need to reflect on your business practices: 1️⃣ Enhanced Communication: Reflecting on people skills improves communication, fostering collaboration and reducing misunderstandings. How to surface what's getting in the way. Building on this post https://lnkd.in/gPZTPpQa I've been looking into what makes high performing teams, and I think this part is really important: ✅ Building awareness, excitement and motivation to improve ✅ Being comfortable with awkward moments of radical candour from colleagues If successful cultures are engines of human cooperation, then as leaders and facilitators, we need to help teams get to a place where "they are solving problems in a constant state of vulnerability with high levels of interconnectivity" (Daniel Coyle). But being vulnerable and open to challenge isn't easy for some. People are different. So you need to find different ways to make it comfortable and engaging for people to share what they are REALLY thinking about.  It's about DISCOVERY. Here are some tips I've picked up: 1️⃣ Create safe places for people to share what's really going on (specific calls or meetings with a deliberate structure and mandate to share what's working and what isn't - Sprint Retrospectives do this well in software delivery) 2️⃣ Look at a) The Task: "What are the barriers?" b) The Team dynamics: "Where is the friction?" 3️⃣ Ask questions to unearth tensions and help the group learn clarity about themselves and the task: - What were our intended results? - What were our actual results? - What caused our results? - What will we do the same next time? - What will we do differently? 4️⃣ Leaders need to encourage open feedback and challenge. Show vulnerability and let others know it's safe by asking, "Did I do anything to cause that to happen?" Hope this is useful. Please add other tips in the comments 👇 #coaching #culture #workplaceculture #highperformingteams #changemanagement #communication
