What is Psychological Safety? Psychological Safety is about creating a work climate where individuals believe that it is expected and valued to speak up with work relevant ideas, to ask questions, raise concerns, constructively challenge and even admit mistakes, in the knowledge that it won’t be held against them. While every organization has unique requirements for cultivating psychological safety, most of my clients agree that change needs to come from the top. Having clear leadership that understands psychological demands of work, prioritizes workload management, provides psychological & social support, and acts on feedback can go a long way in establishing a culture of learning and trust. Ever thought what you do in times of crisis to overcome the odds, if you would have been doing it forever? Great leaders don’t wait for an event to plan actions, their actions are intrinsically motivated by goals and aspirations. ➡ Studying regularly to avoid last minute stress before exams. ➡ Exercising regularly to avoid illness. ➡ Communicating regularly to avoid outbursts. ➡ Learning regularly to avoid stagnancy. ➡ Reviewing regularly to avoid problems blown out of proportion. ➡ Leading authentically to avoid trust deficit. ➡ Give before asking, and let go before being asked to. Today’s problem is tomorrow’s crisis. Prevention is always better than cure. #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #problemsolving

Helping leaders feel comfortable being open and expressing vulnerability is fundamental to helping them create psychological safety and trust in their teams. Simon Sinek demonstrates this beautifully in this clip, but it can take some courage and work for leaders to be willing to be this open and express vulnerability, as it can feel like we're exposing our weaknesses or incompetence if we're in a mindset of Survival. Mindset Practice programmes provide practical tools, space and support for leaders to stretch those skills and build new habits to feel comfortable to express their vulnerability. This enables them to create a climate of psychological safety where their teams can thrive. https://lnkd.in/dyXFFK6P #emotionalintelligence #leadership #mindset #growthmindset #leadershipdevelopment

Leadership today has become a very complex issue but if we follow certain human principles and experiences of other leaders navigating these dense waters becomes smoother. The 4 Ks of Leadership are drawn from the experiences of an experienced leader Robert Logemann, CEO of a Crane Company. Happy employees are more engaged and productive and that is the ultimate aim of any organization. We must aim for good mental health which is a significant factor at the workplace. Emotional Quotient is a necessary ingredient of leadership in these trying times hence, if all leaders pay a little attention to them it can make a great difference in the lives of the employees. Anxiety, undue stress, panic, etc. will ease off. #leadershipvalues #EQcomponents #RobertLogemann #goodmentalhealth #happyproductiveemployees https://lnkd.in/gXWg3U3i

Daniel Cable shares scientific research that shows the lack of positive influences, psychological safety, and spaces to truly be curious, our brains will actually re-wire to "𝙈𝙀𝙃." Meaning, we're not *alive* at work. 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘳? This re-wiring means we fall into: 😞focusing on tasks and checklists 😞thinking outside the box activities are just versions of what we already do 😞going through the day to day without joy and curiosity To move from "meh" to engaged takes 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 mindset and actions on a routine basis. Psychological safety is something we don’t talk about enough, but it’s so important❗ When people don’t feel safe to speak up or share their ideas, it can really hold them back. They second-guess themselves, stay quiet, and miss out on contributing in ways they’re truly capable of. It’s not just about avoiding criticism, it’s about creating an environment where people feel valued and supported to be themselves. Have you ever struggled with psychological safety in your current or previous roles? Let’s chat about creating safe spaces! #Leadership #PsychologicalSafety #TeamCulture

Thanks Dr Paige Williams. It is such a powerful quote from someone who lived it to the nth degree and it really resonates with me. I am doing this much more now than I used to because I discovered my character strengths. That helps me to be the authentic me, an essential step to becoming that change I wish to see in the world.
