Head Candy galore. The specs are shaping up outshine the #applevisionpro at a $1500 saving at a mear $2000. These are all crazy prices to the majority of global consumers. Who knows whether the early 2025 launch date will happen but #meta have been good at hitting deadlines in this space. The other competitor launches from #sony and #samsung are also mentioned with their pending releases around the same time. Personally I think the $200 device by #meta aimed for this summer will drive global adoption and app store sales for #devs. What headsets driving your imagination?

“1) Feeling present and connected to your physical world: thanks to a high-fidelity passthrough (“mixed reality”) experience with very low latency, excellent distortion correction (much better than Quest 3), and sufficiently high resolution that allows you to even see your phone/computer screen through the passthrough cameras (i.e. without taking your headset off). Even though there are major gaps left to be filled in future versions of the Vision Pro hardware (which I’ll get into later), this level of connection with the real world — or “presence” as VR folks like to call it — is something that no other VR headset has ever come even close to delivering and so far was only remotely possible with AR headsets (ex: HoloLens and Magic Leap) which feature physically transparent displays but have their own significant limitations in many other areas. Apple’s implementation of Optic ID as an overlay on top of live passthrough is a beautiful design decision that only enhances this sense of presence. MY TAKE: The Vision Pro high-fidelity passthrough experience parallels Apple’s introduction of the iPhone’s original retina display, which set a new experience bar and gold standard in mobile display fidelity. While much remains to be improved in the Vision Pro passthrough experience, Apple is unquestionably setting a new standard for all future headsets (by any vendor) that VR passthrough must be good enough to closely resemble reality.”

In the “I-CAN’T-BELIEVE-MY-EYES” category, there are moments in the tech industry when you just know you are witnessing something special. I believed Apple Vision Pro (#AVP) had the potential to deliver on that promise, but it wasn’t quite there yet. That was until I gave Summit Tech’s Odience 360 on AVP a go. WOAH! I can see how this might sound self-aggrandizing, but we’re not claiming to have eclipsed Apple’s work. Actually, I’m still taken aback by AVP’s ability to somehow refine 360 videos to look even better than the source - INCREDIBLE! Then why is it I'm claiming Odience elevates AVP to an even higher level? Because of how easy we've made IMMERSIVE LIVE 360 available on the Vision Pro, on smartphones, & even through web browsers. This ubiquity results in mass-market reach. No small feat! Now, if you are in the retail sector in search of a better live shopping experience, or in any live event industry and want to be blown away by the sheer magnificence, get yourself an 8K 360 camera, livestream it on Odience (#5G edge streaming), and prepare to be amazed. Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses are really an interesting prototype. They work well with your mobile and I can totally see their roadmap for the near future: ➡️ Increasing battery life, specially if the user doesn’t use them against the Sun only ➡️ Reducing delay for making queries with “Hey Meta” and increasing accuracy of their answers ➡️ Making it work smoother and more seamlessly for iPhone users What makes me curious is as to why didn’t they choose to get rid of the dependency on phone with some combination of XR on Rayban lenses and a small lightweight battery pack with a SIM card for communication to the net?
