Another World VR is a free-roam multiplayer immersive game arena that just opened in New Orleans. Groups of up to 6 people can play a growing catalog of games ranging from adult zombie-shooters to all-ages space exploration. Right now the experiences are running on the Meta Quest 3, and owner Jocelyn Walker has plans to bring in haptic vests and other effects over time. Hopefully we'll have a menu of options for the effects we want and how deep we want to go. I appreciate the immersion offered by haptics, like what I experienced at The Void years ago, and I've incorporated them into some of my experiences. What I didn't appreciate was feeling every ZING when my elderly step-mom got confused and kept shooting me during our entire experience because she thought I was an enemy Stormtrooper. This is Not Fortnite Usual this Is Unreal Engine Fortnite Creative BlackPoint Studios In North Carolina Game we are developing on Fornite. (Blackpoint BR) As the Regional Director for Blackpoint Studios and someone that genuinely has a passion for all facades of video games and Esports is cool to the see the growth of developing a video game using Epic Games Unreal Engine Fornite Creative eventually. People all over the state will give us feedback on the game and we will listen to the feedback and develop game even better. Our goal is to get an Epic Games MegaGrant & additional funding to devlop (Blackpoint BR) on the Unreal Engine. Helping develop infrastructure and definitely need opportunities have helped build the confidence in Epic Games & Fortnite & the value of experience it can bring to a city, county, state a nation, internationally, globally. If didn’t develop the Jump Ahead Esports competitions and go Chicago to the Esports Trade association I wouldn’t be in this position. It felt amazing being back on the mic. I had the privilege of joining Bill Corcoran Jr. on On The Stacks, and I loved it. 🎤 And, if you listen to the full thing, you'll hear me talk about how I ditched social media. "But Paul, you're posting this." True. Things I actually did: 1. I have not had any social media aside from Reddit (which I periodically delete) on my phone for over 3.5 years. 2. I do not go on social media without News Feed Eradicator on so I don't get sucked into anything I don't want to see. I don't even follow any subreddits on Reddit for this reason. 3. If I use something like Facebook, I bookmark Messenger so I never even think about the feed. I just click where I need to go. 4. I only jump on LinkedIn from the email notifications, and I post without even seeing my feed. If I want to browse, I hit a five minute timer in my extension so it'll shut off the feed if I'm doomscrolling. I also spend a bunch of time talking about manifesting, something I'm very passionate about, grinding, and just staying sane as an entrepreneur. I hope you'll give it a listen. Such a sad situation for Arkane Studios Austin. No team deserves to be shutdown like this. I played a lot of Redfall and enjoyed it. This isn't all corporate greed and stock prices; we as fans have a role in this as well. I'm not saying that we shouldn't critique or call out unkept promises during development. Far too often when we criticize, we lose the human element behind these large projects. Those at Arkane, Bethesda Game Studios, タンゴゲームワークス（Tango Gameworks）, this is not your fault. Dear Game Dev, Building and maintaining a solid brand reputation is key in our evolving games industry. One often overlooked aspect that can significantly impact your brand is your interaction with third parties' intellectual property (IP) rights. Did you know that violating the IP rights of a co-player, whether intentionally or unintentionally, can seriously taint your brand reputation? In 2001, Microsoft faced a potential brand crisis when it announced the name "Xbox" for its upcoming video game console. Unknown to Microsoft at the time, a Florida-based company, Xbox Technologies Ltd, had registered the trademark "Xbox" in 1999. Although unintentional, this oversight could have led to several negative outcomes for Microsoft: 🎮: Microsoft’s reputation as a trustworthy and ethical company could have been compromised. 🎮: Customers, partners, and industry peers might have lost trust in Microsoft. 🎮: Engaging in needless legal disputes could have been financially draining and provided competitors with an opportunity to gain an edge. Today Roblox announced that creators can now charge for their experiences in local currency 💲 (previously announced at RDC) The Breakdown: - Three price points: $9.99 (50% creator share), $29.99 (60% creator share), and $49.99 (70% creator share) - Buy on desktop, play anywhere (avoids app store fees)🌎 - Available in most major markets globally - Players must be 13+, ID Verified This is a positive move, but with some interesting nuances to consider. Will we see $49.99 experiences succeed? I'm doubtful. The gaming landscape has shifted dramatically over the past 10 years toward free-to-play with battle passes and cosmetics - and Roblox players are especially accustomed to this model. The $9.99 price point feels most realistic, but there's an interesting psychology at play: asking parents for 1,000 Robux feels different than asking for $10 for a game. 🤔 To me, this looks like a signal to traditional game studios - "Hey, look, there's a clear monetization path on Roblox now." While creators can choose between Robux or USD pricing (with USD offering better revenue share), the platform's current USD subscription system has yet to really take off. I suspect most native Roblox developers will stick to what's working - the Robux economy.

The much-anticipated "Party" feature on Roblox, first previewed at RDC, has officially launched today 🎉 This new feature allows groups of up to 6 players to seamlessly navigate between experiences together - now available across desktop, iOS, and Android platforms. The data makes it obvious as to why Roblox is excited about it - group engagement shows 1.9x longer session times compared to solo play. A meaningful metric as we approach the holiday season. Phase one launches with text chat (13+), while voice communication will roll out to select countries next month before expanding globally. For developers, this opens opportunities - with an API launching in early 2025 enabling team-based mechanics, shared visual elements, and coordinated group movements across experiences (I am praying for really cool cut scene and events!) I personally think this is going to be used heavily on mobile, but less so on desktop as Discord is already such a powerhouse on desktop communication.

Please share your brutally honest feedback with me about spatial scent. OVR Technology's built plugins for Unity and Unreal Engine that make adding scent to games as easy as audio. It's spatial, so the scent intensity can change as your player's distance to objects changes. We've developed a cartridge for 16 scents, focused only on pleasant scent experiences, here are our first 8: * Fresh (water) * Woody (campfire) * Sweet (vanilla, chocolate) * Green (grass, apples) * Citrus (oranges, lemons, grapefruit) * Soft (skin, lavender, relaxing) * Floral (magnolia, lily, garden) * Earthy (forest, soil, mushrooms) We launched our first device in 2019, specifically for VR, and saw significant success in health and wellness: * Increase in gamma wave brain activity. * 31% decrease in blood pressure. * 32% Increase in happiness. * 33% Decrease in feelings of depression. We've now developed a smaller, more modular device that supports PC, VR, and mobile games. We see the best fit with adventure/casual/cozy games, but see the potential to support all game genres. To that end, we've recently launched a dev kit partnership program to support innovative game studios: * Free devs kits and documentation for your development team. * Free scent integration support, so your team can stay focused on your game(s). * Free cross-promotional marketing for your studio and scent-enhanced game(s).
