Mixed reality (MR) is poised for exciting advancements in the coming years, blurring the lines between the physical and digital realms even further. Here are some trends to watch: **Enhanced Hardware:** * **Smaller and sleeker devices:** Bulky headsets are giving way to comfortable, lightweight options like smart glasses. Imagine contact lens interfaces in the distant future. * **Convergence of AR/VR/MR:** The boundaries between these immersive technologies will blur. We might see consumer devices seamlessly blending functionalities for a tailored experience. **Software Advancements:** * **AI and Machine Learning Integration:** Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) will create more realistic and interactive MR experiences. Imagine virtual objects seamlessly responding to the real world. * **Rise of 5G:** Faster connectivity through 5G will enable smoother data transfer, reducing lag and enhancing the overall MR experience. **Impact on Various Fields:** * **Revolutionizing Work:** MR can improve training, collaboration, and productivity across industries. Imagine mechanics using MR overlays to fix complex machinery or architects visualizing designs in real-time. * **Education and Learning:** Imagine students exploring historical events in 3D or dissecting virtual frogs in biology class. * **Healthcare Transformation:** MR has the potential to enhance medical training, patient care, and even surgical procedures with real-time data visualization. Overall, mixed reality has the potential to fundamentally change how we interact with the world around us. The future holds promise for a future where the physical and digital seamlessly blend to create richer experiences, improve our lives, and push the boundaries of what's possible.

“1) Feeling present and connected to your physical world: thanks to a high-fidelity passthrough (“mixed reality”) experience with very low latency, excellent distortion correction (much better than Quest 3), and sufficiently high resolution that allows you to even see your phone/computer screen through the passthrough cameras (i.e. without taking your headset off). Even though there are major gaps left to be filled in future versions of the Vision Pro hardware (which I’ll get into later), this level of connection with the real world — or “presence” as VR folks like to call it — is something that no other VR headset has ever come even close to delivering and so far was only remotely possible with AR headsets (ex: HoloLens and Magic Leap) which feature physically transparent displays but have their own significant limitations in many other areas. Apple’s implementation of Optic ID as an overlay on top of live passthrough is a beautiful design decision that only enhances this sense of presence. MY TAKE: The Vision Pro high-fidelity passthrough experience parallels Apple’s introduction of the iPhone’s original retina display, which set a new experience bar and gold standard in mobile display fidelity. While much remains to be improved in the Vision Pro passthrough experience, Apple is unquestionably setting a new standard for all future headsets (by any vendor) that VR passthrough must be good enough to closely resemble reality.”

Interesting analysis by Matthew Ball on Apple's Vision Pro headset after 6 months. A few key takeaways I got: Despite $24-33B investment, it's not the game-changer Apple promised. As much as they want to label it as a mixed reality device, it's mostly used for VR. Developer adoption and killer apps are lacking. The discomfort and awkwardness of a headseat and price at $3500 remain significant barriers. While there is potential in specific industries, Ball is skeptical about near-term mainstream adoption. Apple may need to make major changes for future success. What's everyone's else's take? #TechTrends #AppleVisionPro #SpatialComputing

Apple #visionpro is still pushing boundaries. We've recently seen this major announcement highlighting that the race to enable the #spatialweb, the future of the Internet, is accelerating. The AVP is now supporting the #WebXR technology. What does that mean? You will soon be able to experience the Internet in an immersive way, integrating the #3D immersive visualization capability and hand-tracking input. No more app store requirements for developers, they can create and distribute applications directly to Vision Pro headsets through an easily accessible and deployable web-based approach. This news comes as NVIDIA supports the Vision Pro for a wide range of enterprise end users by allowing #Omniverse immersive content creation and collaboration onto the device. Great progress at enterprise level, really promising perspective for general audience as well.

Everything You Need To Know About Apple's Vision Pro ↓ Apple Vision Pro is an augmented reality headset that adds virtual elements to your real environment using cameras and sensors, rather than being see-through. It also mirrors your eyes onto the outside by capturing them from the inside. VisionOS, the new operating system, emphasizes productivity and entertainment. It supports windowed apps and offers immersive 3D experiences for watching videos and playing games. Integration with Mac allows for a virtual screen to act as an external monitor. Input is intuitive, requiring no special devices. Users can interact using their eyes and hands, as well as through voice commands or virtual/hardware keyboards. Content offerings include Apple TV+ and Disney+ from the outset. The mindfulness app provides a glimpse into creating fully immersive experiences. Users can also capture 3D photos and videos for their own content creation. An optional external battery (or fixed power source) is available, which may seem unusual to some. - Are you a financial brand? I can get you more leads and loyal customers. Sharing my Apple Pro Vision User Experience at the Apple Store The Grove Los Angeles Demo and my insights on possible business applications. I understand Apple had 8 years of development before they launched in February 2024. Apple Vision Pro is definitely groundbreaking leap in immersive experiences that are set to change how we work, play, and connect: Spatial Computing: No more screens. Your environment becomes the interface. Whether it's work presentations, video editing, or entertainment, everything is layered seamlessly in your physical space. Immersive Entertainment: Watch your favorite movies or live sports in an ultra-wide view with Spatial Audio that adjusts based on your movement, giving you a theater-like experience, anytime, anywhere. Augmented Reality (AR): The Vision Pro lets you overlay digital content in your real-world space, enhancing both productivity and creativity. Think of designing, collaborating, or gaming with tools that merge physical and virtual spaces. Eye-Tracking & Gesture Control: Navigate your apps and interfaces with just a glance or gesture. The experience is so intuitive, it feels like a natural extension of your body. Apple's Vision Pro definitely provides a new way to interact with technology. Looking forward to leverage this device not only for entertainment but for business that creates positive impact on society. www.rxsmeta.com #AppleVisionPro #ImmersiveExperience #SpatialComputing

My son & I went in for an Apple Vision Pro demo on Saturday. I didn't buy one (was not my intent), but I definitely can see this being a game-changer for personal & business use in the future as the product develops (smaller, cheaper, more capable). Pros: - Feels "real" once you get over the initial setup. Better than past VR I have tried, which my brain never bought into. I lost sight of pixels after the setup screens. - Immersive experiences are very much so; Apple's quality content helps sell it. You feel like you could touch things and your feet should be in scenes. Kinda spooky! - Didn't feel as awkward as I thought wearing what seemed like a large device when on my head. Cons: - Cost! ($3499+, even if you do Apple Card financing you are talking $250+/mo) - Cost goes up even more if I want to share with my family members, needs additional light-seals and headbands for other size heads + optical inserts for those with glasses (though contacts worked fine for me in demo). - I didn't like the external battery cord rubbing up against me. If you can book an Apple Vision Pro demo, please do so! It is worth your time to see what it can do.
