In my experience, some fantastically crafted marketing that is less volume, but more power is going to give you more results and impact. What do I mean by this? I mean that luke warm, gotta put it out because I haven't done a post today, best do a reel so I'll just copy the latest trending sound and some imagery. Creative avoidance … It’s a thing! There’s often the temptation to ‘creatively avoid’ what we find uncomfortable. Let’s use telephone prospecting as an example with sales teams. You’ll do anything you can find to do in order to avoid picking up the phone. How to overcome it … mindset! Recognise that once you start doing that ‘uncomfortable’ thing, it is actually never as bad as you thought it was going to be! Action creates motivation - not the other way round. Some good tips here on leveraging your network on LinkedIn. Simple, straightforward and NOT trying to play the algorithm. 1. You can never be salesy when you sell from service Salesy is what happens when you’re thinking about yourself It’s when you’re focussed on your goals vs. your client’s dreams And no shame because our brains are literally designed to think about our needs all day The thing is…when you feel salesy, you don’t make offers consistently You don’t talk about your business enough And it’s why the 20 people who are ready to hire you have no clue that you can help them When you’re selling from service you are thinking about your client’s dreams & how their life could change by your offer Selling is a form of service You can only do it well if you’re selling for them. Is asking for a client recommendation exploitative? Word-of-mouth referrals are the gold standard of marketing. There’s no better endorsement than a satisfied client singing our praises. Most of my work comes from word of mouth, so thank you to those of you who do this, I really appreciate you 🙏🏻 But is it ethical to *actively ask* clients to recommend you to others? The goal of coaching is to help your client succeed. When you shift the focus to what you need - such as referrals - there’s a risk of diminishing the value of the relationship. The coaching journey should be about them, not your business growth. Asking for permission to use written feedback that can also be used as testimonials is pretty standard and fairly passive. But asking a client outright to recommend me to people they know? That feels like a different level. We agree a code of ethics that we “will not exploit a client to gain inappropriate advantage - including financial or non-financial - from the relationship, even when the work is finished.” So is it inappropriate and exploitative or perfectly acceptable? #coaching #leadership #marketing - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Want to work with someone who’s highly recommended? Your words create your reality Become aware of the words that you say But also listen closely at what words others say as well When on a sales call and you use words like I believe I think This could This might Using those words/phrases leave doubt It’s showing you doubt yourself Which the prospect/client will pick up on and not give them the confidence in you/the company Start using words/phrases like I know This will This is going to It comes off more confident and intentional Which translates a lot better energetically to you clients and makes them feel comfortable/confident that you know what you’re talking about Words are powerful use them to your advantage

Stop selling and start helping people to buy. Not only the title of one of my talks, but also my sales mantra. Nobody likes to be sold to by a pushy sales person; in fact, many people shy away from speaking to prospects for fear of coming across as being too ‘salesy’. You have to talk to people! But in a way that helps them through their buying journey. Identify the steps they go through, get very clear on the moments of truth they will have along that journey (clue - there’s dozens of them) and then you can work with prospects to help them buy. People don’t like to be sold to but they do like to buy. Make it easy for them to buy from you and you will differentiate yourself from the competition, and sell more.
