Banks need to perform significant manual work, such as checking credit scores, evaluating financial performance, and analysing publicly available information including social media posts before they can approve a loan. However, our company has come up with an innovative solution called financial spreading, which is based on AI and ML. This technology can scan the entire marketplace and provide a score to the bank in just 5 to 10 minutes, with an accuracy rate of 85 to 90%. At Quantum.Tech, I shared how global enterprises are getting ready for quantum advantage. Joining distinguished panelists Clena Abuan, Zachary Dutton, Aparna Prabhakar, Vikram Sharma and expertly moderated by Karina Robinson, organisations are clearly ramping up their efforts. I was asked the key to HSBC's quantum success, to which I put it down to three things: 1. 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 - be deliberate about what you 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to achieve and be clear about the 𝘸𝘩𝘺. Set expectations early and define value outputs (hint: be honest and transparent about what can be achieved in the near term - don't hype). 2. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 - quantum expertise is a limited resource, but it is accessible through consultancies, technology partnerships, and academic collaborations. If you are truly committed, consider hiring a dedicated team of quantum scientists.     3. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗲𝘁- avoid conducting experiments in isolation. The more you collaborate to address real business problems with input from the beginning, the more impactful your proof of concepts will be. All of HSBC's strategic quantum use cases are backed by business sponsorship. Lastly, in the realm of quantum computing, there seem to be only two distinctly polarised camps for reasons unclear to me: 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 who support its development and 𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 who believe scalable fault-tolerance will never be achieved. Thus, a strong 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 is critical to anchor any quantum program. Without this, quantum progress will be at the mercy of shifting viewpoints.
