As the new UK EMIR Refit derivative reporting rules come into effect today and industry participants assess the success of their implementations, we at Novatus Global would like to spare a thought for the supporting cast of compliance, operations and technology professionals facing another frantic round of early mornings and late nights. To summarise the points which were made during our #a2apayments #acocunt2account #payments panel at the #PLSUK this week: 1. The benefits of a2a payments are multiple - less #disputes, #fraud more liquidity due to faster settlement, lower costs and great customer experience 2. However, #merchant adoption really varies country to country and consumers are just not used to this payment method in the UK yet, although some merchants are acting as trailblazers! 3. Some checkouts lend themselves better to a2a payments than others, we talked about in-car payments as an example where changing a payment method is very difficult 4. And finally we talked about how the regulators and regulations such as #PSD3 can help by standardising and expanding the market. A big milestone reached today with the launch of the Bank/FCA Digital Securities Sandbox (DSS). Well done to everyone who helped us to get to this stage today. And thank you to everyone who engaged in our consultation and industry body roundtables – your contributions have helped improve the design and operation of the DSS. We've made several changes from the initial consultation, including:   - More flexibility in firm-level limit allocations, with additional review points for firms to progress - Lower, more proportionate minimum capital requirements to encourage start-ups to join the DSS - Expansion of eligible assets to include non-GBP denominated securities - The introduction of a regular discussion forum for DSS entrants and regulators. Investment Week: ICG Enterprise Trust PLC unveils £25m opportunistic share buyback programme ICG Enterprise Trust PLC (ICGT) is set to implement an "opportunistic" buyback programme for up to £25m, as part of the private equity trust's shareholder distributions for the 2025 financial year. In a stock exchange notice today (8 May), the £1.3bn trust said the scheme will run alongside its progressive dividend policy and long-term share buyback programme, which saw £13m worth of shares bought back in the year ended January 2024. According to chair Jane Tufnell, the latest share buyback programme will enable the trust to "take advantage of current trading levels where the opportunity to purchase shares in meaningful size and at a significant discount presents itself".
