What an End to the Year! I attended the Future Ed Group Awards Gala with friends invited by Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE DL FCL, RSA, RA, SGCW,KCL NED. We had such a lovely time together and I heard so many wonderful stories of ambition, drive, resilience, and even defiance. One that stood out was the keynote speech by Diane Abbott. She spoke of her experiences at school and how her aspirations were dismissed and her character questioned simply because a teacher thought she must have plagiarised her work because a black girl could not possibly produce such high-quality work. When she asked for help to apply to Oxbridge she was ridiculed. She used her own ability and determination and got accepted at University of Cambridge to study History. Today, she holds the title of Mother of the House, as the female Member of Parliament of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom with the longest uninterrupted service. I can't help but think what she would have felt if Migrant Leaders existed at that time. That's why we are working hard every year to reach out to more young people to join our 5 year development programme of mentors, work experiences, workshops and connections at 95 FTSE 100 and leading firms. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and happy new year. Here is to 2025! #migrantleaders #migrantmagic #inclusion Thank you Lewis Patrick for the wonderful photos.
