Founder's Day Celebration in DR B R Sur Homeopathic Medical College & Research Centre
Dr. B .R. Sur Homeopathic Medical College & Research Centre, FOUNDER DAY CELEBRATION was
dedicated to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao/SAVE THE GIRL CHILD THEME. On this occasion, Ms Juhi
Mukherjee, IAS, District Magistrate, New Delhi was Chief Guest, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, SDM Vasant
Viharwas Guest of Honor along with Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar Jamran, Dr. Jyoti
Prakash, Nodal Officer, PNDT Department was also present.
Dr. Bhagat Ram Sur (1915-2006), the founder of Dr. B. R. Sur Homoeopathic Medical, Hospital and
Research Centre was a great philanthropist and leading Homoeopath of Delhi. His vision led to the
establishment of our prestigious institution in November 1985. His birth anniversary, 20th August is
celebrated as the Founders Day of our college. It was the Principal ,Dr Mukesh Chawlas desire that
Founders Day Celebration be dedicated to important social Campaign Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Theme to
generate awareness and improve the efficacy of welfare services intended for girl.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to Dr. B. R. Sur by the chief guests, teachers, staff members and
students.AeuphoniousGanesh Vandana was sung.Dr. Rajnish Chauhan, HOO, welcomed the chief guest with
his kind words. Ms. Jyoti Mukherjee, District Magistrate addressed the audience and brought to light the
current scenario of girls in the country. She talked about how difficult it is to change the orthodox mind-set
of people and to explain to them that girls and boys deserve equal rights through a visual presentation.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Jamrani, CDMO, New Delhi District discussed about the crimes against women. He
talked about the malpractice of female foeticide and infanticide. Everybody took an oath to protect the girl
child administered by Ms. Ujwala Sati, Consultant PNDT.
It was followed by Hindi poetry which elucidated about the hardships faced by girlsin India. A melodious
song Bekhaufhai Zindagi was sung by students. Next in the series of performances was a skit prepared by
the students in which they showed the different instances of inequity faced by girls.The skit depicted that a
girl child is treated like a burden in the family and how the conservative thinking of the society creates
difficulty for a girl to pursue her dreams. The skit ended with a dance expressing the feelings of a woman
being oppressed due to the malpractices going on in the country.
A poster making competition was also held on the same day. The topic of the competition was SAVE GIRL
CHILD. The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sameena, In charge cultural Committee.
