Emile Berliner invented the first gramophone in our nation’s capital and paved the way for the recorded music industry and the GRAMMY Awards. The Washington D.C. Chapter of the Recording Academy engages the wide-ranging music communities in Maryland, Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Working with varied genres including rock, Latin, hip-hop, R&B, go-go, gospel, folk, classical and jazz, the D.C. Chapter is a vital connection and touchstone for music makers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Please take a few minutes and explore not only what the Washington D.C. Chapter is doing, but what all the Chapters have to offer in the way of professional development and opportunities for our members.
