A great podcast with great insights from some of my favorite voices and champions for HR, David Green 🇺🇦, Diane Gherson, and Lynda Gratton. Focused on the key role of HR in successfully integrating a blended workforce. Here are some of the key insights that resonated to me: As work becomes more remote, people seek more control over where and how they work, leading to an increase in freelancing and flexible work arrangements. Will your HR systems keep pace? The traditional stages of education, work, and retirement are being replaced by a multi-stage life where individuals curate diverse work experiences to gain skills throughout their careers. The younger you are, the more likely you want to be freelancing and not work with you full time. Hence, employment is shifting toward short-term contracts and project-based work, with employees looking for meaningful, growth-oriented roles rather than long-term, static positions. "Why would I want to work for you" is a question that every HR leader needs to be able to answer. Organizations must adapt by creating internal career marketplaces, using technology to support managers, and promoting autonomy to retain talent. The tendency to hoard the best talent must be addressed. People are choosing to work in different sectors to curate and broaden their work experiences, using this cross-sector approach to expose them to new ideas, learnings, tools, and practical experiences. Reversing the previous pattern of gaining experience in and hiring from the same sector AI and digital platforms will play a crucial role in managing workflows, improving talent flow, and providing insights into workforce skills and performance. Highly recommended listening and learning for you as a HR leaders looking for insights to address some of the top employment challenges facing your organization

🎙 What is HR's role in successfully integrating a blended workforce? https://lnkd.in/ezM4F_Gu 🎙 “You’ve got (an increasing) number of people who want the agency of working when and where and on what they want, and they have the skills that are in high demand, and so they can do that.” Gartner estimates that 35-40% of the global workforce will be classified as independent workers by 2025? This raises an interesting question: How does HR navigate this new world of the blended workforce, and effectively manage and integrate freelancers into their organisations? This was the topic of a recent Harvard Business Review article by Diane Gherson and Lynda Gratton (see link below), and I’m delighted that they are my guests for this week’s episode of the Digital HR Leaders podcast. “(Three impacts of the blended workforce on organisational structure). One is work become projects. The second is individuals develop skills and mastery. The third is that you have workflows.” In our conversation, Diane, Lynda and I discuss: 🎤 The factors driving the rapid increase in independent work and how technology is enabling this transformation. 🎙 The impact of a blended workforce on organisational structures and the evolving role of managers. 💡 Practical strategies for HR leaders to adapt workforce planning and recruitment processes to integrate freelancers effectively. 💢 The importance of building the right cultural infrastructure to support a diverse and dynamic workforce. “Some companies have separated the role of the manager into managing work and managing people, but you can’t really do that unless you have digitised workflows.” Thanks to Lynda and Diane for sharing their time and expertise with listeners as well as Adedamola Adeleke, Jake Sorofman, Ian Cook, Paul Rubenstein and the team at Visier Inc. for sponsoring this series of the podcast. Thanks too to Stefan Kesić, Jasmine Panayides, and the teams at Insight222, myHRfuture and Listen for bringing the podcast to life. “People Analytics is the engine room for HR, and it should be at the centre of everything HR does. It certainly was for us at IBM, and it enabled us most importantly to forecast and deploy skills in a way that was a win-win for the employee and for the business.” #humanresources #workforceplanning #futureofwork #peopleanalytics #culture #leadership #management #employeeexperience #hrtech #talentmarketplace #orgdesign #recruiting #skillsbasedorganisation
