What’s the role of your product in a world where we mostly interact with agents? Together with Steffie D. we tried to challenge the bright minds at Product Day to do some futures thinking. Not only imagine what’s a probable future but also what would be a preferable future for your organisation. (Thank you denkwerk GmbH for the visual) Which steps do you need to take today to get closer to that preferable future? The answer is not always to try and become an agent. Your product may not have the frequency of use or the topic you operate in may not be wide enough to allow it. Instead becoming a data source may be the right path for you. Product Day really is a little gem of a conference. Extremely well organized (shoutout to Lien De Leenheer!) with an engaged audience of product people from various backgrounds. It’s a real testament to Ghent’s thriving tech scene.

I've been pretty quiet lately. Not for lack of having something to share; quite the opposite. 🎤 Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can announce I will be one of the speakers tomorrow at 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐦 - the first conference ever organized by ProductTank Bucharest, the Romanian Product Community. I chose the topic of 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬, as I believe these will become more important in the future. With everyone having what feels like an infinite* number of choices for almost anything, what compliments the product can become a decisive criterion. Christophe Raix came to a Product Squad Meetup a while back, met Olivia Hildebrand and now they are hosting their first meetup under the Product Squad umbrella. ✨ Hugues de MEZERAC would jump at this and say that it is an example of standardized work and that Product Squad could be operated as a licence. The great thing about this meetup is that it tackles a topic that is underrepresented in tech talks: the craft of building hardware, the co-existence with software and whether/how the craft of product management differs from one space to another.
