Some sales reps are scared to get a no for a mid to late stage deal. Why? The best sales reps are always trying to get to no. I think it’s probably because then your pipeline will look weak to your leadership or you thought the early stage conversations went so well that you started to count your commission checks. Or you flat out just don’t want to get back to Ground Zero and start prospecting again. Whatever the reason is you need to stop holding onto things that aren’t progressing. They know where to find you if they start to buy. They’re not going to forget about you, so keep them in your tickler and do your due diligence but turn the page on people that are not coming back at you. #sales

Every week, we hear from a Revops leader complaining about support from their sales engagement vendor. But the problem isn't support. It's why they're seeking support. The real problem, they always reveal, is the Shadow CRM. Turns out, syncing a complex sales engagement app with Salesforce is a nasty engineering challenge that leads to chronic data issues. Why do reps care? How does it feel when they crush a day on the phones and manager, looking at Salesforce reports and sees no/low activity, asks the rep why they're not doing their job? Revenue pros need to get ahead of the renewal conversation. Don’t take your renewals for granted. Instead: (1) Understand what’s going on with the business. Where are they winning and where are they struggling? (2) Demonstrate the impact you’ve had on their business. Make the case for renewal plain and simple. (3) Bring a point of view to the renewal conversation. This may mean restructuring to find an agreement that works for everyone. How are you getting ahead of renewals?

Things I wished Gong could do today (and will likely do). - automatically fill out MEDDPICC in Salesforce - automatically update stages in Salesforce (with human intervention) - Allow me to prompt the follow up email in the application / make changes to their automatically generated email - Connect to all of our documentation / videos and make part of the follow up email - Based on our conversations and titles, create drip campaign with relevant info to send to champions I'm working with So many possibilities --- what am I missing here? the options are endless.

Connections and success in cold calling is small. That can be discouraging. Change the definition of success or what you are tracking that will give you a more positive feedback. For example, if you start tracking how many people per day let you know what solution they are currently using, you can probably get a lot of those and then at the end of the day with that amount of data gathered can make you feel optimistic that your day was productive. Change the way you define success and track more metrics that will not just seem completely negative. #sales

To all SDRs or anyone entering B2B sales, read this post to avoid falling into common traps. 1. The most successful AEs I have met were the best SDRs. 2. SDRs who didn’t excel in the role and are now AEs are still struggling to generate their own pipeline. 3. AEs who skipped the SDR role, often due to an MBA or strong interview skills, fear switching jobs and roles without inbound leads. They’ve never faced the grind of building a pipeline from scratch, filled with rejections. 4. AEs who have never been an SDR majorly rely on their SDRs or Inbound leads from marketing to help them build pipeline and if any Quarter they don't get inbound or enough meetings from SDRs they sh** in their pants. 5. When these AEs become managers, they often question their team—"Where are the numbers?" or "Why isn’t there a pipeline?"—instead of guiding them on building it. Lacking experience in pipeline generation, they fail to lead by example and eventually lose the respect of their team. Learn the art and science of being an SDR and excel at this job at any cost, you will never have to look back or depend on anyone for pipeline EVER. Prospecting and Generating Pipelines is fundamental to Sales whether you are an SDR, AE, Sr Manager, or VP if you don't know how to do OUTBOUND you will continuously live a sales life of fear and anxiety. Inbound representatives convert existing demand into revenue. Outbound representatives create new demand. Inbound reps are tasked with disqualifying leads. Outbound reps focus on qualifying leads. There’s a significant difference between these roles: The approach to the job, The skills required, The mindset needed. Recruiting Account Executives from product based companies like Salesforce, Hubspot. Most of these hires, around 90%, were used to inbound and cross-selling approaches. For outbound Account Executive positions in a scaling company, this wasn’t ideal 🤦🏼‍♂️. I wouldn’t recommend it 😅.
