Not even in our darkest, most prohibitionistic paraquat years like the Reagan ‘80s did people want isomerized (synthesized) THC. We knew it could be done, but why? Weed is grown in almost every county in the nation, just find a better plug. A lot of folks who stand to benefit financially from stopping #FLAmendment3 #recreationalcannabis are spreading a lot of false information. Here are the facts: 1. Florida law requires ballot initiatives to be single subject only. If the ballot initiative would have included home grow or prisoner release, it would not have been approved to appear on the ballot. Because of the way our state law works here, progress has to be achieved via incremental measures- MMJ needed to be passed before we could get rec. Rec needs to be passed before we get home grown or prisoner release. It's a process, but we will get there. 2. #3 does not create or protect any cannabis "monopolies" as it does not restrict licenses to existing cannabis operators. The ballot language clearly states that the law allows the FL legislature to "provide by state law for the licensure of entities other than existing Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers to cultivate and sell marijuana products." Also, the Florida leg is due to release 20 more MMTC licenses licenses any day now, as existing state law requires more licenses to be issued as registered patient numbers grow. #3 does not change any of that. 3. There is no "monopoly" to protect here in Florida. Trulieve does have the most brick and mortar stores, however they are selling about as many mgs per month, per store as their competition. That's not a monopoly, but a real estate play, and it might wind up hurting Trulieve in the end. According to the OMMU reports, some newer dispensaries who deliver statewide out of just a handful of stores are outselling Trulieve on per store basis, while also saving themselves brick & mortar overhead Trulieve has for all that real estate. Additionally, Truleive isn't a monopoly on the national level either. Their market cap is only #4 on the list of top cannabis companies. 4th place isn't a monopoly. Yes, Trulieve has been the driving force behind Amendment 3 - and I’m glad for it. Before starting Trulieve, CEO Kim Rivers was an excellent state lobbyist who understands the laws & intricacies of getting the momentous work of cannabis legalization done. 4. Florida has already had deaths from fentanyl laced cannabis, that's why it is mentioned in the #VoteYeson3 commercial. This is not a myth. 9 people died and 15 more were seriously injured in Gadsen County from unknowingly smoked weed their plug had laced with fentanyl to make it seem as strong as dispensary weed. July 2022. Google it. 5. #3 has nothing to do with hemp, intoxicating or otherwise. 6. The FL governor cannot "veto" a ballot initiative. 7. #Intoxicatinghemp #D8 labs, & a handful of #MMJ card sellers are trying to get people to vote "no" on 3 because they stand to lose a lot of money when Florida adults have open access to this amazing healing plant. Before you have an opinion on Rescheduling of Cannabis ... It is often said that history is a great predictor of the future. So based on that, many do not trust the Federal Government/Regulators on the implementation and execution of the rescheduling of cannabis based upon continuous misinformation and lies that have been in place for decades. If you question this, just remember the definition of Schedule I List Drugs - "Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse." This is inaccurate based on (albeit limited) scientific research and evidence. So many have expressed opinions whether the rescheduling is a good thing or a bad thing, but reality is we really don't know until there is more definition and transparency to the execution. Things that need further definition: 1) "Timeline - of the rescheduling process itself, which may fluctuate greatly." 2) "Presidential election - what happens to rescheduling if former President Donald Trump beats current President Joe Biden in the coming November election and the rescheduling isn’t finished by the time he takes office." 3) "Another Cole Memo? - will the DOJ issue an updated version of the Cole Memo, and how that policy guidance could change – or leave undisturbed – the day-to-day operations of the cannabis trade." 4) "Congressional inaction - What is really needed to resolve this … is for Congress to act, to create a unified regulatory environment that involves both the states and federal government." 5) "Will the DEA’s move to reschedule encourage more banks to work with cannabis companies?" 6) "Will stock exchange officials to loosen up and accept marijuana businesses to the Nasdaq or New York Stock Exchange?" 7) "What other action could stem from this federal pivot?" A new set of criteria for qualifying for a public convenience and advantage waiver was proposed at today’s Cannabis Control Board meeting. The criteria include the following: 1. Distance from Other Retail Dispensaries: The proposed location must be at least: - 1,000 feet from any existing retail dispensary in jurisdictions with a 1,000-foot minimum distance requirement. - 2,000 feet from any existing retail dispensary in jurisdictions with a 2,000-foot minimum distance requirement. 2. Geographic, Structural, or Topographic Barriers: The existence of barriers (such as waterways, major roadways, highways, or significant travel distances) that separate the proposed location from existing dispensaries. 3. Travel Distance: The actual distance between the proposed location and existing dispensaries, as measured by pedestrian or vehicle routes. 4. Unique Factors of the Proposed Location: Factors that may justify the location, such as: - High consumer demand for additional retail dispensaries or microbusinesses. - The presence of illicit or former illicit cannabis dispensaries near both the proposed and existing locations. - Other relevant factors that may support the need for greater access to adult-use cannabis in the area. 5. Notification to Local Authorities: The licensee must send a notification to the local municipality or community board, informing them of their intention to request a waiver from the Board for not meeting the 1,000-foot or 2,000-foot minimum distance requirement. The municipality or community board will have 45 days to respond before the Board considers the application. Mr. Kagia mentioned that the Board would consider more than this information alone when deciding to grant a waiver and that it would be up to their discretion. Chairman Wright raised concerns about the 45-day period, and the Board voted to approve the criteria with an amendment for licensees who have already received municipal support.
