Spoiler alert: They landed the Director of Sales role. 🙌 Today's Grati-Nug (gratitude nugget) comes from someone who already had great interview skills. I would know, since I hired them and helped get them promoted at one point! They were recently part of a round of layoffs and were focused on getting initial interviews. Turns out that interviewers often look at your LinkedIn well before they ever look at your resume. Here are 3 quick things you can do to make a good first impression: 1. Use your LinkedIn banner as the BILLBOARD for "you". Google "free LinkedIn banner builder" and show hiring managers what you're about in 2 seconds. Check out Matt Stone's profile for a great example of this. 2. Add Skills, Media, and a Description to each of your work experiences. Hint: Not sure which skills are relevant? Open up 4 attractive job postings and look at the desired skillsets. See what overlaps, and add those specific skills to your relevant experiences. 3. Ask for LinkedIn recommendations from your leaders, peers, clients, and colleagues. Hint: Do NOT send the generic message. Customize your request and offer reciprocity.
