Facilitating regional growth with new routes and carriers added to Southampton Airport, the improved connectivity for business and leisure travel is helping to deliver opportunities in the #CentralSouthUK. This year the airport has announced expanded routes by EasyJet to Amsterdam, and after a 15-year hiatus, Tui Airways has landed back at Southampton. A significant asset to the Central South and great USPs to take to MIPIM in 2025. Meeting with our new Business South Champions at picturesque Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel - managed by Legacy Hotels & Resorts over breakfast, we were treated to fascinating insights into their roles and businesses. Welcomed by Business South Strategy Director, Kate Pearce, who discussed the many activities and channels available to Champions, and how we collectively work together to promote the #CentralSouth. Our Action Groups are where we highlight the challenges facing various sectors, and through attending our full calendar of local, national and international events, Champions can get involved and network with business leaders from the region. We also enjoy sharing good news stories and plenty of social media posts to help promote our Business South Champions and the Central South. We look forward to working with everyone. Our Housing Group led by Mark Perry CEO of VIVID (https://lnkd.in/eXCAQq4t), met recently and explored the fascinating world of retirement living. We were joined by Matthew Serginson, Director of Development at McCarthy Stone. He explained there are currently 13m older people in the UK and that figure is set to grow by a further 5m in the coming years. The retirement market has a key role to play when it comes to housing as often when people choose retirement living, it can free-up 3 to 4 bed family homes. A lively Q&A session followed Matthew’s presentation.
