We cracked the algorithm for DISSH. They have grown 7X in the last 2 years. Here’s how we did it 👇 TL;DR 1. Channels 2. Locations 3. Creators 4. Diversification DISSH is a successful fashion brand in Australia that has been looking to go global. To take the bones of that success and turn it international we based their marketing around 5 things. 1. Channel Fashion trends start on TikTok, and bleed to Instagram. Any spend on other channels would have brought marginal results at best. We went to where fashion is, and we doubled down there. 2. Locations When starting the US entry we wanted a ripple effect. We wanted our ads to start trends that would move to the rest of the country. So we focused on the cities that lead the country in fashion: NY, LA, MIA. It would have been easier to make a splash in smaller, more central cities. But the splash wouldn’t have rippled to the more fashion-centered cities. We started at the top. 3. Creators Getting US creators to post with DISSH’s hashtags was essential. The right partnerships were key. And now #DisshHaul has 19.5 million views and #DisshTryOn has six million. The right creators make all the difference. 4. Diversification Paid media is the backbone of the expansion. But it can’t be the only thing. PR, media, influencer, and in-person activations were critical. This helps create a broader brand identity that will provide staying power. DISSH is an incredible brand that is going to take the US by storm. We are grateful to keep playing our part in their growth!

Really strong quarter for my client. They are an Aussie Ecommerce Supplement company. With 45% growth in revenue! Mainly Google ads but with some Meta, TikTok, email and Bing. Funnily enough the Roas is actually climbing… I always tell people the clients that I get the best results for are those that stick around the longest. They must also genuinely want to scale. Most people think they want to scale. But when things break they quickly back off. Things will break several times. You just need to know what to do to get things back on track. I’m still trying to figure out the exact format I want to use, but I think I’ll just start by giving you updates on the 3 Shopify EMD projects, on a weekly basis and I’ll let the format develop over time. Out of the 3 EMD projects, 1 targets the US, and 2 target Australia, we’ll call the US project, Project A, and the Australian projects, B and C. Here are the updates! Project A) Spent the week arranging a lot of the access, moving billing details from one card to another, getting a VA in place with my business partner, to fulfill the orders, and identifying a great potential candidate to run the operations and manage the project. We’re still figuring out exactly what we’re going to do with the prices (we believe we need to increase prices to become profitable on Google Ads), but we’ll give it some more time. Until then, the main focus is collecting as many 5-star reviews as possible, and getting Google Ads profitable, we’ll also start building out some email flows/automation shortly. Project B) This is the project that made 4 sales last week, exclusively from organic traffic with no links, no content, no collection texts, just 100-something collections created, on-page optimized, and indexed, along with about 250 products added to the store. This week we added about 200 additional products from new suppliers to further fill out the collection pages, and the majority of the week was dedicated to image enhancement. Unfortunately, the images we get from suppliers usually aren’t of the highest quality (this is a super good opportunity for any supplier to up their game by the way - improve your image quality). Because of that, we’ve bulk-exported all product images, and we’re using an AI image enhancer to bring up the quality of the images and make the entire brand look more premium. We should have this fully done in the next few days, and on Friday we have a meeting to launch Google Ads, which I’m incredibly excited about. Project C) This one is the most insane because we literally haven’t even created any collections, we haven’t added anything to the homepage and the site doesn’t even have a navigation menu… Yet, somehow we got a $300 order in last week. Absolutely nuts. This is a higher ticket store, which has the potential to do a few million a month in revenue once it’s running at full speed… But because the project is so massive, with so many product categories, it is taking us quite a while to plan out all the keyword research, as we’re going to be targeting over 6M keywords. I’ll be getting an update shortly from my team on when this will be ready, but other than that, this week we mainly planned out the homepage, the theme we’re going to use and we’re going to start with the site layout build-out process. Other than that, I also added all 3 projects into our indexing tool a few days ago, to ensure as many product pages get indexed as possible, and that’s that. Any feedback on the format of this post?

It’s wild how effective UGC ads have been over the last 12 months. They’re the best performing content type in almost every account we manage. For example, this one piece of content cost about $1200 all in to create. We put $86,761 of spend behind it. To date, it's given us back $889,982 in revenue. From ONE video. Gone are the days of paying your favourite Love Islander £10k for a story that has zero business impact. The quality of the creative is one of the single biggest drivers for paid social success, and your customers want to see people that look and sound just like them. My advice for anyone wanting to smash BFCM this year: - Find epic creators that fit your niche - Tell them what you want to achieve - Pay them - Let them do their thing in their own unique style. Yes, some pieces might not land. That's part of the game, and it’s exactly why we script, build & edit the videos in a modular format so we can stitch various hooks & assets together to find the best performing combinations. But when you land on a few that do, you can scale them to the moon. Google is launching AI Overviews in Australian search results this week - here's what you need to know. 💠We've seen the almost-comical wrong information examples from the US, Google 'believing' sarcastic comments from Reddit as truth, put glue in your pizza sauce so the cheese doesn't slide off etc... Humans are also naturally going to try and break things like AI Overviews, find the worst case examples. 💠Google has had enough months to assess the negative PR and where it goes wrong, and seemingly address this / scale it back in some areas. Honestly I still think elements of it are a rushed job to try match Bing, and it's still a somewhat undercooked and flawed product. 💠AI Overviews won't show for all queries. Some SEO / rank tracking platforms are incorporating reporting on it and will show you for what keywords / what SOV etc. AI Overviews are present. Some platforms aren't there yet. 💠AI Overviews don't always pull from the top 10 ranking results, but as they refine it, I believe they will naturally skew towards higher ranking websites as these generally reflect higher quality information per their algorithms in determining quality content. 💠Your SEO strategy shouldn't drastically change, anyone telling you to revolutionise and re-do everything is just trying to sell you something out of fear and doubt. 💠If you do want an actionable strategy for this - Put absolutely every bit of information about your product and every question you ever get asked about customers on your website, and structure it clearly with language a 5 year old could understand. This Aussie lipstick brand tried every angle but nothing really scaled Here’s how I made them $50k profit with just 3 ads: Here’s what I noticed: → They were targeting the same desire every other brand was. → Most of their UGC ads focused on how good these lipsticks looked. ⏳ 2014: On stage at an Easy Weddings event I told an audience of skeptical Australian wedding professionals that Google Analytics conversion tracking meant they could track every conversion back to the referrer. Simple. Marketing works! ⌛ 2023: At a DTCX event in Austin I am asked in front of an audience of DTC marketers for my thoughts on attribution, and if I had a preferred platform. My response was "attribution and all the attribution programs are RUBBISH" (sorry American friends... "trash") In this day and age, there's too many variables, online, offline... AND too many barriers (see below), to make any of it more than guesswork. So I'm all in on SparkToro's advice of 🎉 Measurement over Attribution 🎉 Of course you need to understand which channels are working, which are not, which work well in tandem and at different points of the buyers journey and to different objectives, where are your customers spending time, etc etc That's marketing! 3 Lessons From The Godfather Of Advertising Dan S Kennedy was at his ‘No-BS’ Best 👇 Last month I took the timeout of my busy schedule to cross off a bucket-list item… To meet this old cranky dude who spit absolute facts for 3 days straight. Sharing 40 years of advertising and direct response wisdom. I flew all the way to Dallas, Texas for it. At considerable cost. From a time and money perspective. And it was worth every penny. Here were my 3 biggest takeaways from the Godfather: 1/ The Majority Is Almost Always Wrong The super successful are in the top 5%. That means that 95% of the rest aren’t super successful. This is an unpopular opinion… Especially in today’s society. But it’s extremely important if you operate in the results economy. (AKA the real world) There are always going to be winners and losers. And I want to be on the winning side. So you must be willing to ignore the opinions of 95% of people out there. And block out their opinions… And instead rely on objective facts and results to make great advertising. 2/ One Is The Worst Number In Business Businesses built on ONE of anything are destined to fail… Let me explain… Most businesses that we see in our space… Are built off only one lead source. Maybe it’s referrals… Cold emails...  LinkedIn DMs... Or a veteran BDM who can’t do anything in the business except sell… But that’s all they’ve got. Just a reliance on ONE thing. And when that thing breaks. The business breaks. So you must diversify. Because diversity = stability. Once you stop relying on one… - Staff member - Supplier - Service line - Traffic source It gives you complete peace of mind. And your business is no longer built on a house of cards. This is especially true in marketing and business building. Never forget… One is the most dangerous number in business. 3/ Use Blunt Instrument Instead Of Surgical Tools I see this all the time. People running AB tests on stuff that doesn’t work. They blurt out excitedly… ‘We should test that!’ No… Not really. You can’t optimise ZERO. It’s way easier and faster to get the sledgehammer out. And change things up radically in your marketing. New Offer. New Copy. New Campaign. New Audience. New Team. These are the blunt instruments at your disposal to get where you want to go faster. If you want to make serious improvements… Get the sledgehammer out. ______ Getting out and taking some time to myself was also equally awesome. Feeling refreshed and recharged. And I’ve got a whole bunch of mental models to use to grow my business.
