Google just chucked a wildcard into Black Friday PPC prep! The TLDR: 🔔 Pmax will no longer have automatic bid/placement preference over your Shopping campaigns 🔔 Ad Rank will be the decider between which campaign type has preference 🔔 Advertisers may need to reconsider how the two campaign types "play" together with their automated bid targets and assigned budgets If you're already working with different Pmax campaigns at scale, chances are you're already familiar with how bid priority works, making this a fairly low impact update. In most accounts this update will be fairly non-disruptive, but after speaking with a Google rep yesterday, I learned a bit more about how its rolling out. 1. Its already started rolling out worldwide in some accounts 2. There will be no notification in-account when this occurs, so it may already be live in accounts you manage --- Things to bear in mind: - Ad Rank isn't just down to bid & Target ROAS between Standard Shopping & Performance Max. Negatives, Product Listings, Search Themes & your Assets will all play a part. - Keep a close eye on your Shopping campaigns & see if they start ramping up in clicks/spend while this update rolls out. If so, it could be a sign that your Ad Rank in Performance Max could be improved. - Ensure you're confident about how your campaign & bid structure works together now, so you're not worrying about it when the Black Friday sale period begins!
