REQUIRED MATERIALS:
PE clothes (clothing that you will be
comfortable and active in), active shorts, T-
shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants, and tied shoes (clothes must be different than what is
worn to school). Lockers will be provided, must bring your own LOCK.
o Be prepared EVERY CLASS to go outside (sweatshirts, sweats, etc.)
Students are REQUIRED to wear their PE clothes daily. PE clothes will be provided
if you do not have clothes.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Team Sports will build on the concepts and activities taught in PE 1. Students will improve
and maintain personal fitness levels (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength,
muscular endurance, and flexibility), and learn life long fitness activities. Fundamentals,
skills, strategies, and rules will be taught as they connect to a variety of activities/sports.
Students will be expected to participate in activities that are both individual and team
oriented.
DAILY CLASS PROCEDURES:
Students will be dressed down no later than 5 minutes after the tardy bell in the
gym and ready for warm up.
Access to locker rooms during class will not be permitted. Use restroom and get a
drink before going to the gym.
Lockers: please use PE locker you are assigned. Do not share with others, and do
not give your combination to other students.
Keep all belongings locked in your PE locker at all times. Anything not locked up is
your responsibility.
Showers are optional. Students will have approximately 10 minutes to dress at the
end of class.
End of class: Students must stay in the locker room until dismissal bell rings.
INJURIES/EXCUSES:
If a student needs to be excused from an activity because of injury or illness, he/she will
need to provide a written note, signed and dated from their doctor. Student will have 3 class
periods to obtain the note from their doctor. All students will dress down and assist as
directed, or an alternative activity may be assigned. If you are unable to participate for an
extended period of time, you may be dropped from the class.
MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENTS:
Points are earned daily. If a student misses class for any reason he/she will lose those
points until make-up work is complete. Make-up MUST be pre-approved by the teacher or it
will not count for credit. Make up work can include an article review or one hour of
instructor approved activity [Typically PE department will hold make ups after school once
a week]. The article can be related to any sport, physical education or health topic. Make-up
assignments must be turned in before the end of the quarter for credit.
At the end of a quarter, any missed day or curriculum work not made up becomes a
permanent zero.
*NOTE: an unexcused absence or unexcused non-participation day cannot be made
up.
GRADING POLICY:
Students will be given 10 points daily (The Daily 10). These points include dressing down,
participating, and good sportsmanship. Every student begins with all 10 points and the
points will be taken away if any or all of the above criteria are not met.
**Participation grade: In order to receive credit for participation the student MUST
participate in the activity to the fullest. (i.e: if the activity is jogging, walking will result in a
loss of points)
Grading Breakdown:
Daily 10 (dressing down, participation, and sportsmanship) = 70%
Fitness testing/journal entries = 20%
Final (20 minute endurance run/10 minute jump rope) = 10%
90 - 100% = A
80 - 89% = B
70 - 79% = C
60 - 69% = D
0 - 59% = F
SAFETY:
Accidents can happen, especially while engaged in physical activity. Therefore, we ask for
your help in making our classes a safe place.
No food/drinks/gum in locker rooms and gymnasium
Do not sit or climb on bleachers
Use physical education equipment for its intended purpose, and under the direct
supervision of an instructor. You will be responsible for any equipment damaged
intentionally.
Any time you need to leave class, you must have a pass from your teacher.
Please be respectful, courteous and responsible with your words and actions.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, inappropriate language and bullying will not be tolerated.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS AND CONSEQUENCES:
BE PROMPT: tardiness/late work is disruptive to you and your classmates.
Tardiness results in a loss of one point of the Daily 10s. Late work results in loss
of points.

Tardy = -3 points and a verbal warning (parents are notified)
o After 3

= written tardy referral for every tardy beyond 3. (-3 points/day)
BE PREPARED: Come dressed EVERY CLASS.
BE POLITE: Pay attention (ABSOLUTELY NO: CELL PHONES/IPODS OR OTHER
ELECTRONIC DEVICES- unless otherwise instructed), respect the rights and
feelings of others and their property
BE PRODUCTIVE: Stay on task and participate in all activities. Our goal is to keep
moving for the entire class period.
o UMBRELLA CLAUSE: It is expected that each person will be treated with
respect and courtesy.
