Women in #stem have made significant contributions to their respective fields throughout history. Nevertheless, they still often face systemic barriers such as gender bias and stereotypes that might contribute to the under-representation of #women, notably in industrial and scientific roles. On the occasion of ⭐ International Women’s Day ⭐, let’s meet Ines Recio, General Manager of Air Liquide Poland, who started her career in Air Liquide Engineering & Construction, mainly in site activities. I have already signed WISTA International’s pledge for inclusion of women in the shipping industry. Have you? Among seafarer there is approximately only 4-5% women. The figure is higher in the shore based organisations however not on top management level. As industry we are competing for talents and competence with all others industries and companies with much higher brand recognition. If we as an industry shall be successful in the transform that lays ahead of us we cannot afford to exclude 50% of the workforce. It is proven that companies with more diversity have happier employees, greater customer satisfaction, and generates more profit. Celebrating International Women’s Day Growing up in post-communist Poland and studying IT, I faced numerous challenges. It was a world where women were often relegated to tasks like fetching coffee or arranging meals, while the men dominated the technical roles. We had to work twice as hard to earn recognition in a field dominated by men. But times are changing. I’m thrilled to see more women entering the IT world, taking on leadership roles, and making their mark. We have so much to offer, and our contributions are finally being recognized. On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made, while acknowledging the journey ahead. Let’s continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and strive for equality.
