On the eve of International Women's Day, I ask myself whether it is a day to celebrate progress or cry at the slow pace of change? My answer..... both. Yes we progress but pace is glacial. Companies need to pick up the pace on hiring and progressing females into leadership positions. Every year, International Women’s Day (IWD) gives us a moment to collectively celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.   While we can agree that much has changed since the first IWD gathering, there is still a long road ahead. And, we know that progress for some groups, including women of colour, lags even further behind.   Over the past few years, we have seen diversity become a political and polarising topic in many parts of the world. Amidst these challenges, as a company, ArcelorMittal remains committed to improving gender parity as we fundamentally believe diversity is not only the right thing to do, it is a strategic priority.   In 2020, we made a global commitment to increase women in leadership positions to reach at least 25% by 2030. As a group, we remain on track to meet this target, reaching 17.3% women in management at the end of 2023.    Importantly, we know that our journey does not end here. Inspiring inclusion for International Women’s Day 8 March 2024 – Today, 8 March, is #InternationalWomenDay (IWD), a worldwide celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Tetra Pak is embracing this year’s theme of #InspireInclusion, which emphasises the role inclusion plays in driving fairness, opportunities, and success for all. At Tetra Pak, we remain committed to advancing gender equity across the company. “The latest statistics on our workforce show that we are making good progress. For example, the number of women in senior positions has increased from 13% in 2020 to 23% at the end of last year. This is close to the overall number of women in the company, which is 23.8%.” Our investment in the development and progression of women extends across all levels of the organisation. Today, 47% of the participants in our mentoring programmes, 31% of the participants in our Accelerated Leadership Programmes (LAP and TAP), and 31% of the successors to key roles, are women. Additionally, 49% of our 2023 Future Talent leadership track participants are women.
