Updates

  • We're devastated to share the news that St Cuthbert's Hospice is announcing the possibility of significant redundancies, meaning the potential reduction of some of our services to make sure our In-Patient beds can remain open. Hospices up and down the country are facing the same financial crisis, with many already forced to take the same drastic action to protect their end-of-life services. We are not alone in reporting soaring pressures due to central government funding not growing in line with inflation. We have seen huge increases in the cost of energy, food and clinical supplies. The upcoming rise in National Insurance has been an unwelcome additional bill while we are already on our knees. Whilst this action has been unbelievably difficult to propose, the long-term future of St Cuthbert’s Hospice is at its heart. This is a deeply unsettling prospect for our dedicated staff and volunteers, and most importantly the countless patients and families who rely on our care. At present all of our services continue to operate as usual. We remain fully committed to providing end of life care to local people, and their loved ones, where and when they need it. Please read the full statement here: https://lnkd.in/emGtjH2b If you’d like to support St Cuthbert’s Hospice at this difficult time, please visit our website: https://bit.ly/SCH-Donate 💚

  • Help us to care this Christmas. Could you donate this December to help us raise funds to care for families spending time with us this festive season? This Christmas, just like all the Christmases before, will be a very special day for all who spend it with us at St Cuthbert's Hospice. Decorations will be hung, trees will be trimmed, presents will be exchanged, crackers will be pulled, and our nurses will do all of the little things they can to make sure it is a day filled with treasured memories. Many families are aware that this will sadly be the last Christmas that they share with their loved ones, be that with us at St Cuthbert’s or with our support to get them home once again. We are determined to do all we can, to make this festive season memorable and full of love. To do this, we need your help. Any donation this December will make a difference. Thank you 💚 You can donate on this post using the button below or head to Just Giving via this link: https://lnkd.in/erWY2xAh
