When BEfriend's Linked Minds project connected Roger and Shivam, a remarkable bond was formed! Following comprehensive mental health training, Befrienders are matched with someone suitable by a Coordinator who then acts as a (non-clinical) supervisor for the befriending period. Where applicable, this can count towards continuous professional development. These visits can be transformational for the client and, as a Befriender, you’ll get to know inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection. About us
BEfriend is a registered charity (no 1072538) established in 1994, providing one-to-one volunteer befriending. Our core Befriending Project supports people who are isolated and sometimes housebound. They may have a physical or sensory disability, or they may have mild dementia. Our Linked Minds Befriending project provides specialist one-to-one support for adults who are isolated because of a diagnosed mental health problem. Volunteering with BEfriend not only enriches the lives of those who are isolated, but also offers immense personal rewards. As a volunteer, you’ll befriend inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection. We regularly fundraise to make sure we can continue to provide support free of charge and every donation, big or small, makes a substantial difference. Your donation will help us train the volunteers who are the backbone of our services and by contributing, you’re investing in the power of connection, support and community. If you would like to become a volunteer, or to donate, or to refer someone who needs our support, please visit our website.

Roger and Shivam’s Linked Minds journey has been so enriching for both! Volunteer Befrienders spend 1-2 hours a week supporting someone socially isolated due to a mental health problem – chatting, visiting a café, or joining a local activity to help their recovery. These visits make such a difference and, as a Befriender, you’ll get to know inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection. Quite a spread at the BEfriend Volunteers Christmas Party! We gathered at the William Hobbayne Centre in Ealing to catch up, chat and celebrate a year of supporting socially isolated people in Ealing and Hounslow. A heart-felt thanks from BEfriend Coordinators and staff to all our Volunteers and very Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas. #BEfriend #volunteering #Christmas

Christmas spirit was in full swing at BEfriend HQ! We got together for some festive snacks before dividing into teams for a quiz that had everyone putting their thinking caps on! The fun didn’t end there — in the evening, it was time to celebrate our amazing volunteers at the Christmas Party. Keep an eye out for a post about that soon! #BEfriend #Christmas

We've been packing and delivering hampers! With the help of some amazing Sixth Form students from Cranford Community College, who worked so quickly, we've been packing Christmas Hampers. Members of the team did some of the deliveries, which saved on postage! Thanks to everyone's generosity we are well on the way to our target, but there's still time to donate: https://lnkd.in/euX22CQv #BEfriend #volunteering #BEfriendshipTree #Christmas

A huge thank you to local businessman Mark Pitcher for his generous donation of £100 to BEfriend! Mark, (seen here with BEfriend's Jason Ellis), runs Fit For Life Bootcamp & Fit After 50, and chose to donate a portion of the proceeds to support our work. This contribution will make a real difference in helping us continue to provide free support to socially isolated people in Ealing and Hounslow. Thank you, Mark, for your kindness and community spirit! #CommunitySupport #BEfriend #FitnessForLife #LocalBusiness

Become a Group Co-Facilitator! We need volunteers who can commit 1-2 hours per week for our Linked Minds befriending project, but we also need volunteers whose circumstances might be more suited to a 2 hour per month commitment as a Group Co-facilitator. Our groups offer a safe, welcoming space for those Linked Minds clients needing additional support to engage in social activities after their one-to-one befriending period ends, led by two Co-facilitators with the support of our Befriending Coordinators. Could you be a Group Co-facilitator? Find out more at our Volunteer page: https://bit.ly/l-minds #BEfriend #LinkedMinds #Volunteering
