Working with German OEMs on a Mobility (you still say Automobile) Strategy since 2008. They know since 15 years or more what they have to do: they just have to do it. The CxU has stood in the way of innovation in mobility and energy for over 16 years - transportation ministers and the VDA have torpedoed all chances of change: bringing us up to this point. And you continue to ask the wrong people for strategy, and have the wrong people to execute: and anyone aware and watching this sees that the VDA and yourself are complicit.

We reached another milestone: Our charging Service Mercedes me Charge is expanding rapidly and reaches a new milestone of 2 Million charging points As of October 2024, the Mercedes me Charge network offers customers access to more than 2 million charging points, making it one of the largest charging networks worldwide. In the first three quarters of 2024, Mercedes-Benz integrated around 500,000 charging points – a record increase since the service's launch in 2019, particularly in high-power fast charging points with over 150 kW capacity. In Europe, the network has surpassed 750,000 charging points, which can be used across borders with just one Mercedes me Charge contract. What an incredible achievement, by an incredible team. ++ This is Not a Post for Sympathy, But a Crucial Reminder that taking care of ourselves should always be priority number one. ++ Last December, I arrived in Łódź for business in the early hours of the morning, only to be hit by severe tooth pain. The kind that makes you rush to the emergency room, desperate for relief. Little did I know, this was just the beginning. Back in Romania, where I was having my "work abroad" stint, my partner took me to the dentist. What we discovered was far more serious than I could have imagined: a severe issue with my upper jaw that, if left untreated, could lead to facial collapse. The reality of this hit hard. I had to undergo surgery, and the process is still ongoing. Just this Monday, I underwent another procedure. Now, I find myself living, working, and traveling with a swollen face and temporarily missing a frontal tooth until the end of the month. This experience has taught me a crucial lesson: taking care of ourselves is non-negotiable. As someone with dental phobia, I realize my fear could have put me in an even tougher situation. Ignoring our health can have serious consequences, and it's a stark reminder that we must always prioritize our well-being. So just just keep this in mind; in our fast-paced lives, it's easy to put off those check-ups, to ignore that persistent pain, or to let fear dictate our actions. But we owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to stay on top of our health. Self-care is not a luxury; it's a necessity. They are cars like the #Renault 5, the #Citroen eC3 and now the #Hyundai Inster. They are able to get customers excited about e-mobility. They cost around or well under 25,000 euros. ➤   This is certainly still no bargain, but the manufacturers are putting together attractive leasing rates for these cars. This makes electric driving more accessible to broad sections of the population - and that is precisely why such models are needed. The latest electric car in this trio is the Inster. I was able to drive it for the first time in September at the Tannistest in Denmark. At that time, I was unable to write anything about its qualities, as the embargo only expired on 1 November. Now I can - and you can read the test here. For me, the Inster is certainly not one of the beauties in terms of design, but it makes up for this with its inner values. ➤   Inside, it surprises with lots and lots of space, fully folding seats and good driving performance. It therefore has everything it takes to appeal to those who are still unfamiliar with e-mobility. The Inster is also one of the candidate cars for the The Car of the Year award, the voting process (Longlist, Shortlist, Final Tests) for which is still ongoing. The international jury will make their final decision in January. I am curious to see how the Inster will fare - for me, at any rate, it is one of the surprises in an otherwise strong field of competitors. The economic development in Germany is currently under a lot of pressure. This is also visible in my area of passion the #automotive industry and the transition to #e-mobility. But we believe that a pivot is possible. Here is our latest perspective on “A pivot for Germany – All for growth and growth for all”. Communication departments need to sharpen their profile Study reveals significant room for improvement in the perception and positioning of corporate communications A team of researchers from Leipzig University investigated the perception and positioning of communication departments in large companies. 1,147 top executives, middle managers, and employees without leadership responsibilities in Germany—the largest European country—were surveyed about their perceptions of the objectives, tasks, and relevance of their communication departments. The results show that there is still much room for improvement. Only 50% of top managers and 36% of middle managers are convinced that communicators' work helps them fulfill their tasks. Nearly every second manager doubts that the resources and budgets spent on communications in their own company are justified. A majority of all respondents call for communication departments to better explain what they do and how they create value. Answers to my question before going this year to OMR and my key take away to these: ⚡How to make best use of AI and ML? Other than the name “Artificial Intelligence” suggests, it is not intelligent, it cannot solve new problems (yet). But AI tools are extremely efficient in managing standard tasks, based on experience and data. Therefore, all indirect processes should be targeted asap: Supply Chain, Purchasing, Bookkeeping, Payroll, etc. You need these savings urgently to stay competitive. Get going. Use the Data you have. ⚡How best to manage risk and ops? It is as simple as this: The opportunity is - just f…. do it! Then you have the chance to stay in the business. The risk is - not do it or be too slow. You will lose out and get uncompetitive.   ⚡How to make your team fit for this future? Make AI a Boss Thing! Appoint an AI responsible reporting directly to you. Have an AI responsible in every department. Talk about the opportunities, give confidence that you will manage this and succeed. Invest in your people. Make them be part of something special – and driving AI within the company and for the benefit of the company if very special and very rewarding!   The key consequences for the practical work with my clients are: ✅ You need a clear objective and a road map for the next 12 months (these times you are not able to look out longer) – and then focus on max Top 3 priorities! Your resources and in particular your AI knowledge is still limited. To make a good decision you need to know where you want to be using AI in 12 months. Analyze your potential projects portfolio and decide what brings you the biggest bang for the buck $$$. Then – Focus, Focus, Focus - and - Execution, Execution, Execution! ✅ Don’t overcomplicate it – get going, get experience, learn, and adjust as you go. Speed is far more important than perfection. ✅ Be Technology open and flexible. The application you might choose today might not be there tomorrow or not the best solution for the next phase.   In addition, two hints that I liked very much: 💡Combine your Chatbots for Service, Sales, Technical Hotline etc. with ChatGPT. Significant improvements of customer satisfaction are measurable. 💡Use TikTok as a Sales Channel. For people under 30 years TikTok is already the No.1 search Engine. 53% of the users start the App with the search function. Be fast, take a risk, have fun – I am here to support you being successful for the long run!   #OMR24

Support is needed if you want to create something new.    What to expect from that Episode 🎙:  - What is the rational to innovate in a non-core business?  - Why it is important for a car manufacturer to think about mobility as a whole!  - How to keep the fire burning even in bad weather!    A very important question that we are discussing is "what exactly is the core business?", as that is the ultimate question to gain understanding on what a "non-core business" would be. Is a navigation service core or non-core for a car manufacturer? What about helping people arriving on time at a meeting in urban areas? What about helping people to organize a weekend trip with friends? There are many "jobs-to-be-done" where a car may play an important role. In all of these examples people cannot get the whole job done just by using a car. It takes planning, preparation, knowing how to execute a travel, monitoring, and knowing how to modify a travel or the mode of transportation. And not to forget about "the last mile" when finishing a travel (at the point of destination). A car manufacturer may decide if any of these jobs or job steps are considered "core business" or if that term only covers an existing product that currently generates revenues (e.g. car sales). Depending on how a company defines its core business (e.g. the existing line of products, or the core job that is being supported with different solutions) may change how innovation is being managed, focused and budgeted. In a nutshell: Innovating in a non-core business is first of all a question of how you define it, and then a question of how to create a mindset towards helping customers get their jobs done better;)    What do you think?
