Volkswagen’s shift toward "Vehicle on Demand" is set to redefine customer experiences. Instead of traditional car ownership, users can lease, rent, or subscribe to vehicles, offering flexibility and reducing long-term commitments. This method could make accessing the latest models easier and more sustainable, but it also raises questions about long-term costs and brand loyalty. How will this impact consumer behavior and the auto industry at large? #VehicleOnDemand #MobilitySolutions #CustomerExperience #AutomotiveIndustry #Sustainability #FutureOfMobility

Electric vehicles are now worth 26% less on average than they were a year ago. Both private and business customers are currently holding back on offers and purchases. Vehicles are sitting at dealerships for longer than before. In some cases, high discounts on new cars and the rapid technical progress in electric cars - particularly in the area of battery technology - are having a negative impact on demand for used models. https://lnkd.in/emEPJzPz

⚡ The shift to e-mobility comes with another catch for fleet operators: the residual values of BEVs are significantly worse than planned compared to ICEs. Or in other words: an additional loss roughly equal to the amount of the environmental bonus paid in Germany to boost BEV sales in the first place. 🚗 Due to the further expected leasing returns, the pressure remains high and the fleet operators' parking lots full. Did you hear about Honda's latest innovation? They're transforming the humble rear bumper into a game-changer for last-mile delivery! 🚘📦 Honda's patent for a slide-out storage drawer in electric vehicles' rear bumpers is not just about storage; it's a bold step into the future of urban logistics. By blending the convenience of online shopping with the necessity of safe, climate-controlled package delivery, this move could redefine the role of personal vehicles in cityscapes. I see this not merely as an automotive advancement but as a strategic pivot towards creating a more integrated, service-oriented vehicle ecosystem. In analyzing Honda's foray, the increased utility of EVs as central to the evolution of urban delivery networks is evident. The idea signals a shift towards vehicles that cater not just to mobility but act as secure hubs for receiving goods, addressing last-mile delivery challenges head-on. This innovation opens avenues for new partnerships and business models, particularly in e-commerce, enhancing the consumer experience through seamless delivery solutions. What’s the takeaway for businesses looking to stay ahead in this rapidly transforming landscape? First, it's crucial to understand that innovation isn't just about creating new products but about redefining how we use what we already have to meet emerging consumer needs. So, how is your business preparing for these shifts in consumer expectations and technology? Are you ready to innovate the spaces around you? 💡 #BusinessStrategy #Innovation #MontaigneSolutions #MarketInsights #EVInnovation #Honda #LastMileDelivery #UrbanLogistics #AutomotiveInnovation #FutureOfMobility

On Wednesday night, I was in downtown Los Angeles for a Volkswagen Group vehicle presentation on the eve of LA Auto Show. It was so important that Thomas Schäfer, head of Volkswagen Passenger Cars worldwide, and Kai Grünitz, head of technical development at Volkswagen, made the presentation in person. No, not an electric car, but the latest generation of the Tiguan SUV, overhauled for the American market. The Tiguan is one of Volkswagen's best-selling vehicles worldwide and, along with the Atlas, is very popular in the USA. 80 percent of cars sold in the U.S. are SUVs and pickups. SUVs also dominate the electric vehicle segment. At Volkswagen USA, 76 percent of the vehicles sold are SUVs. Gone are the days when Volkswagen was known in the U.S. as a supplier of small cars. "We are unquestionably an SUV brand," says USA sales chief Andrew Savvas. In Europe, the new generation Tiguan is also available as a hybrid. Not yet in the USA for model year 2025. According to Kai Grünitz, the reason for this is that homologation according to US regulations will take one and a half years. So it will take until 2026. This means that the Volkswagen brand still has nothing to offer in terms of hybrids in the USA. Sales of the ID.4 electric SUV have declined. And for the new head of Volkswagen USA, Dr. Kjell Gruner, the question is whether he will continue to lean on electric models for futures sales when internal combustion engines are doing so well and the incoming Trump administration has signaled that it will get rid of EV sales incentives. Not an easy decision for sure.
