A heartfelt thank you to radio DJ Raymond Foong from Mediacorp Pte Ltd CAPITAL 958 城市频道 for hosting our Executive Director/ Head of Business Yoke Foong Law, live on air this Christmas Eve. The conversation delved into the fascinating evolution of Changi Airport's design and architecture, highlighting what makes the recently completed Changi Airport Terminal 2 Expansion an award-winning architectural masterpiece. "T2 was conferred a special award for Best Airport Interiors, simply because despite being a mammoth airport, the integration of nature-inspired elements and a garden-like ambience throughout the Terminal has made navigating through an unfamiliar airport less stressful. It sets out to be an urban oasis, with indoor greenery manifested as vertical landscaped columns, green walls, and scattered hanging greeneries." Shared Yoke during the interview. Last month, RSP's Chairman, Kiat Lim, officially launched the Kiat Lim-Shaping Hearts Award (KLSHA), a transformative scholarship and bursary programme designed to support children and youth with disabilities in pursuing their passion for art. With a personal commitment of $1 million over the next five years, Kiat’s contribution marks the largest individual donation to the award. This funding will enable KLSHA to provide 10 scholarships and 100 bursaries annually, benefiting up to 110 recipients each year. “Art is a form of alternative expression. Some are unable to communicate as well, or be as expressive physically, so I think art is something that can allow them to express themselves in an alternative form,” shared Kiat in The Straits Times article. The award’s launch took place at Our Tampines Hub, hosted by the North East Community Development Council (CDC). Kiat was joined by Mayor Desmond Choo and Dr. Deibby Mamahit, an Autism and Brain Health Consultant, for this meaningful event. Last month, our Senior Executive (Architectural) Fadzli Jani and Associate Samantha Wong joined a group of fifty volunteers from the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and EPIC Homes to build homes for two underprivileged Orang Asli families in Malaysia, Bukit Mancung, Selangor. RSP is proud to support EPIC Homes' noble cause every year, this year as a silver sponsor. "I took up the challenge to be part of the Floor Team, accompanied by 6 others including our Specialist. Even after 144 pieces of jig/circular-sawed floorboards, 1728 of hand-hammered nails and the unforgiving staircase (with railings) details to foyer, I still can't build a house because it can never be done without the other volunteers, Epichomes Master Builders, Specialists, Main Core Team, ECs, and the very own Orang Asli (Villagers)! Thank you for the most memorable and authentic experience. We wish the families well and may the newly built house be continuously full of love and happiness!" Shared Fadzli on his Instagram. EPIC Homes is a non-profit dedicated to serving the underprivileged Orang Asli population by building homes, which gives the people confidence, a sense of belonging and security. Working with EPIC Homes allows us to empower communities with our expertise to ensure that design meets the real needs of humanity. 📷: First group photo by SIA #rspdesign #rspdesigners #designmeetshumanity #EPICBuild

Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming Heiko Stahl, Managing Director of International Markets at Vitra, to our office. Vitra has long been at the forefront of design, with iconic pieces like the Eames Office Lounge Chair and the Panton Chair shaping the landscape of modern furniture. He shared invaluable insights, including the fascinating story behind the creation of the Dancing Wall, Vitra’s core values, and their belief that people are their number one asset. Heiko also emphasized how Vitra fosters employee engagement by creating spaces that inspire creativity, promote constant learning, provide purpose, and instill a sense of belonging. His words resonated deeply with our team, especially as we have recently moved into our new global design studio. Similarly, when designing the space, we aimed to reflect our brand as creators, bringing people on a journey rather than just walking into a conventional office. But, we also wanted to ensure the space felt like home—a place where employees could be comfortable while offering more collaboration spaces. We strongly believe that we perform best not as individuals, but as a collective team, and we wanted our new studio to naturally embody the spirit of teamwork and community. Thank you Salim Albert Khoury for arranging this insightful discussion. #rspdesigners #vitra
