Last financial year, we received over 7,000 calls for support, assisted with over 2,000 kgs of food relief. Our dedicated financial counsellors successfully helped clients maintain their connections to essential utilities 97% of the time, and supported them in securing stable housing arrangements 54% of the time. We waived over $421,000 worth of debt, alleviating financial burdens for many individuals and families. Overall, we engaged in over 13,000 client interactions, reflecting our commitment to being there for those in need. These achievements would not have been possible without the invaluable support from our partners, collaborators, and community members. The Financial Wellbeing in WA Snapshot 2024 uncovers housing stress as a key contributor of hardship in the client cohort the Financial Wellbeing Collective supports. Lack of available and affordable accommodation is creating enormous pressure on household budgets and is putting those experiencing hardship at risk of homelessness. Clients often prioritise rent or mortgage payments at the detriment of other living essentials such as food, medication, utilities and fuel.   If you're experiencing financial stress – you’re not alone. Dear Friends of TSC, With sadness we inform you that The Spiers Centre Executive Manager, Ghylene Palmer, has tendered her resignation from The Spiers Centre, to pursue a new opportunity. Ghylene’s last day will be Friday 6 December 2024. We, the board, are very grateful for Ghylene’s commitment and positive leadership over the last 16 months and her engagement with the wider community on behalf of TSC. I know Ghylene will continue to champion TSC’s work wherever she goes. The board is commencing recruitment activities to find a suitable replacement with the support of Ghylene who will work to ensure a smooth transition. Please join us in wishing Ghylene the very best in her new endeavours.
